all convenient speed and to take with him Charters and all other necessary Papers to be distributed and laid before the Council already retained by this Corporation on the subject, and he is hereby directed to follow such Advise as he shall receive of them in order to secure the Previliage aforesaid, and he is also further impowred to serch the Records, private & publick at New York, and to take such Copies & Abstracts therefrom as may be thought usefull on this occasion & for all his Disbursements & Servises he is to be repaid & satisfied & soon after his return he is to make report to this Board of his actings & doings herein.

A Petition from the Inhabitants of Balls Town to this Board praying their assistance to make a road from said Town to this City being read, Resolved by this Board that the Petition from Balls Town be taken in farther consideration at the next meeting.

A Petition of Simon Schermerhorn praying for a Lease of a Quantity of Land about one mile square at the south west corner of the Corporations Right lying to the westward of this City being read,

Resolved by this Board that the Petition of Simon Schermerhorn be granted as shall be agreed on hereafter.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer to pay the following acc, one D in favour of Jacobus Van Valkenburgh for riding stone, £3:15.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw Advertisements to sell 2 Lots adjoyning Jacob Van Schaack, Q, each 30 feet 6 inches in front, in length according to John R. Bleeckers map the twentyeth day of November, 1771.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer to pay John Readtcliff a years Salery for Bell ringing, deducting what he

owes.

At a Comon Council held for the City of Albany on Wednesday the 20th day of November, 1771.

A Petition of John Christopher Hartwick, praying for a room in the Hospital till next Spring being read, it was Resolved by this Board the same be granted.

A Petition of Lewis Van Antwerp, praying for a piece of vacant Ground or Land at Schacticock being read, Resolved that the same may be taken in farther consideration.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer to pay Cornelius Wendell 19 for the Oyl & freight.

Resolved by this Board that the following Ordinance be published, viz: A Law for the better securing of the City of Albany from the danger of Gun Powder.

Mr. James Baen is appointed by this Board as Overseer of the Powder House under the regulations of said Ordinance.

Resolved by this Board that Aldermen Merselis, Peter Lansingh & John Ten Broeck are appointed a Committe to examine the remaining accts and that they make report to this Board the next Monday.

Resolved by this Board that William Regel, Constable for the second ward is removed out of the City, and is resolved by this Board that there be another Constable elected for the said ward on Monday the 16th day of December, 1771.

Luke Cashady & Hendrick Van Hoesen where sworn in the due execution of their office as Constables and took the Oaths appointed by Law. At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on Tuesday the 24th December, 1771.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk give an order on the Treasurer in favour of Michael Wagoner for £3:18:3.

Barent Bogert being chosen High Constable in the stead of William Regle was sworn in the due execution of his office and took the Oaths appointed by Law.

Hendrick Halenbeeck being sworn in the stead of Barnardus Everse and took the Oaths appointed by Law.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer in favour of Thomas Seeger for three Skipple of wheat and charge the same to his account.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on Monday the 10th of February, 1772.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer in favour of the watchmen untill the eight day of February is 4 month. Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer in favour of John Flansburgh for £3:10.

Resolved by this Board that Philip De Fraest be Gager of Bushels as well as of Skiples.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on Thursday the 13th February, 1772.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer in favour of Thomas Seeger for a years Sallery, fifteen pounds, from 29th Sept 1770 to Sept 1771.

Mr. Folliet owes for a Lot of ground and will leave the City of Albany and Mr. Amory will give a Note of hand for the money to the Corporation payable in four months with lawfull Interest, it is Resolved by the Board to accept the said Security for the payment of the said Debt.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer in favour of Tho Shipboy for £2:10:6.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer in favour of Peter Lansing for £2:16.

The Board having this day rec1 a Letter of Phil Schuyler, Esq', one of the Representatives, which being read and a draft of an Answer being prepared, Resolved that when the same is copied that the Mayor sign the same in behalf of this Board and send it down.

Resolved by this Board that the Docks belonging to the Corporation be sold at Publick Vendue on Friday next at ten o'clock in the morning and that the same be advertised.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on Friday the 13th March, 1772.

Jacob Van Schaick having presented to this Board a Petition praying a Grant for a vacant square of Ground lying to the eastward of his Lott, it is therefore Resolved by this Board that the prayer of said Petition be granted in the following manner, that a Release be drawn and executed to the Petitioner, his heirs and assigns, for the consideration of 30s. for the breadth of twelve foot adjoining to the East of the Lot which the Petitioner bought of Hubertse with the full breadth of said Lot, and that the remaining part of the said Petition be rejected; the said Peice is granted for the purpose of erecting a Bullwark against the Ice.

The Docks being sold at Publick Vandue for one year to Abraham I. Yatos, who being the highest bidder, for seventy-four pounds payable the first day of January next and such security to be given to be approved of by the Corporation for the payment thereof, and the said Abraham I. Yates offering Joseph I. Yates as a Security, ordered that the City Chaimberlain accept of him and that he enter into Bond for that purpose.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on Friday the 27th day of March, 1772.

Resolved by this Board that the Chaimberlain give an acc' of what money he has rec1 and paid, as also an acc1 of the annual Income of this Corporation arising from the several Rents of Lands, &c., belonging to them, by the next meeting of this Board.

A Law for paving & cleaning the Streets, Lanes and Alleys within the City of Albany and for preventing Neusance within the same.

Resolved by this Board that the same be bublished and renewd for one year, which is done accordingly.

Also Resolved by this Board that a Law for regulating they lying of Vessels at the four several Docks of this City and asserting the rats to be paid for the same, and that the same be published and renewed for one year, which is done accordingly.

Resolved by this Board that an Advertisement be published in the Albany Gazette, requesting all persons who stand indebted to the Corporation to pay the same to the City Chaimberlain on or before the first day of May next and in case of their refusal will be prosecuted for the same.

Resolved by this Board that Alda Silvester and Ald" Robert Yates revise the Ordinances, and for that purpose that they may have and take the Books of this Board where the same is entered.

This Board having taken into consideration the present scarcity of Provisions in this City, oweing in a great measure to the Misrepresentations of some evil designed Persons, it is therefore resolved that the Advertisement be published and dispersed through the County in the following

manner:

Whereas it has been reported to the Disadvantages of the Citizens of this City that the Corporation had passed a Law that no Strangers should bring in any Cattle to Market to kill and dispose thereof, this is therefore to sexnify that there is no such Law and that they are at Liberty to bring in what Cattle or other provision they pleas, and if good they will meet with the usual encouragement in selling by the Quarter, and that the Clerk of this Board sign the same by order of this Board.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw a Warrant for the Assessors to assess the sum of £150 for the City Night watch and the Expence of lighting the Lamps erected in this City.

Resolved by this Board that the Mayor of this City sign the Deed of Jacob Van Schaick and that the City Seal be thereunto affixed.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer in favour of Thomas Seeger and charge the same to his account.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on Monday the 6th April, 1772.

Resolved by this Board that the Collector find surety for his true performance for collecting the sum not exceeding £150 for the City Night watch and Lamps.

At a Common Council held for the City of Albany at the City Hall of the said City on Wednesday the 15th day of April, 1772.

An Ordinance for regulating the Market of different sorts of Meat was passed and published this day.

Also an Ordinance for regulating of Carts and Cartman was passed and published this day.

Resolved by this Board that the City Chaimberlain sell one hundred Skipple of the City wheat at 5s. Skipple, and no more than three Skipple to one person.

Resolved by this Board that the Clerk draw an order on the Treasurer in favour of James Taylor for £10:7.

This Board appointed Jellis Winne a watchman in the room of Obadiah Cooper.
