ALBANY, April 7th, 1857.
President of the Senate:
SAMUEL D. BACKUS,
IN SENATE, April 10, 1857. Resolved, That the report of the Commissioners appointed to ascertain the boundary between this State and the State of Connecticut, be referred to a select committee to report whether any action of the Legislature is required respecting said boundary.
The president appointed Messrs. Ferdon, Kelly and Lee as such committee.
S. P. ALLEN, Clerk.
IN SENATE, April 10, 1857. The select committee, to which was referred a resolution concerning the boundary line between this State and Connecticut, reported the following resolutions, which on motion were adopted.
Whereas, The Commissioners appointed on the part of NewYork and Connecticut respectively, to ascertain the boundary line between the two States have been unable to agree in relation thereto,
Resolved, That the Commissioners on the part of New York, while they have maintained the rights of this State, by declining to yield any of its territory or to adopt any other than the legal and recognised boundary through the ancient landmarks, have not been lacking in liberality toward the Commissioners on the part of Connecticut, nor in proper effort for a just and speedy determination of the matters in difference between them, nor are they to be held responsible for the failure of a settlement hitherto.
