As soon as the alarm shall reach the Station-house, the Officer will dispatch all the men available to the scene of conflagration, to maintain order, protect the property saved, and as much as possible lend a helping hand to the Firemen in the accomplishment of their arduous duty. 41. The members of the Force shall pay particular attention to the following rules laid down for their guidance by the Chief Engineer of the Fire Department, to whom they shall be bound to render every possible assistance: 1st. Prevent at all times, if possible, the opening of doors or windows to admit air. 2nd. Give the alarm by day and night at the nearest Signal Station upon the first discovery of fire. 3rd.
