Miscellaneous.

I.

ELEMENTS OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE HUMAN MIND. By DUGALD STEWART, Esa. F.R. S.S. LOND. & EDIN. With translations, and an additional Appendix. Two Volumes bound in one.

This edition is printed from the last English edition which contained some additions and corrections by the author; especially an Appendix to the second volume. It occurred to the publishers, that a translation of the Greek, Latin, and French quotations would be acceptable to many readers. This has been executed with great care and fidelity, and it is hoped will give satisfaction. The whole work has been carefully revised.

The Publishers have lately received from Philadelphia, the following Extract from a letter written by Professor Stewart, and addressed to a gentleman in that City, dated

KINNEIL HOUSE, near EDINBURGH, 18th February, 1824.

"I was particularly gratified with the copy you sent me of the Philosophy of the Human Mind. The English Translations (or at least such of them as I have read for I have been by no means able to examine all of them) appear to me to be executed by a very skilful and judicious hand; and certainly they add much to the value of the Elition. I hope the English Publishers will avail themselves of the hint when a new edition is called for in this country."

As there have been several editions of this book printed in this country, persons wishing to obtain it are cautioned to name in their orders Wells and Lilly's last edition.
