NOTATION AND NUMERATION Ten-thousands The number facts of business and science constantly require numbers larger than those that can be expressed by thousands. In Book I the names and symbols for all integers to 10,000 have been given. The method of naming or reading numbers is called numeration and that of writing notation. 1. How many units make 1 ten? 3.
