THE Monthly Meetings of the Royal Microscopical Society commence on the Second Wednesday in October, and are continued on the Second Wednesday in each month until June, at King's College, Strand, at 8 o'clock P.M. Visitors are admitted by introduction of Fellows.

Extract from the Bye-Laws as to the Election of Fellows, &c.

(3). Every Candidate desirous of admission as a Fellow of the Society must be proposed by three or more Fellows, who shall sign a Certificate of Recommendation, setting forth the names, description, place of residence, and qualifications of the Candidate, of whom the proposer whose name stands first upon the Certificate must have personal knowledge.

(6). Every Fellow on his election shall pay an entrance fee of Two Guineas, and a further sum of Two Guineas as his first annual subscription. He shall also pay, as long as he continues a Fellow, an annual contribution of Two Guineas, which shall become due, in advance, on the 1st of January in every year. But Fellows who shall be elected in the months of October, November, or December shall not be called upon for a second subscription during the ensuing year.

(7). Any Fellow may, on his election, compound for his future annual contributions by a payment of Twenty Guineas, in addition to his entrance fee of Two Guineas; or he may, at any time afterwards (all sums then due being first paid), compound for his annual contributions by the like payment of Twenty Guineas.

(14). Any Fellow who may be absent from the United Kingdom during the space of one year, or who may permanently reside out of the said kingdom, may, upon notifying such fact to the Secretaries in writing, be exempted from paying one-half of the annual subscription of Two Guineas so long as his absence may continue.

The Fellows are entitled to receive the Publications of the Society.

THE Journal will in future be issued bi-monthly, in February, April, June, August, October, and December.

It will vary in size according to convenience, and will comprise :

(1) THE TRANSACTIONS of the Society, being the papers read (or taken as read) at the Ordinary Meetings, and the President's Address at the Annual Meeting.

(2) THE PROCEEDINGS of the Society, being a report of the business transacted at the Ordinary and Annual Meetings, including any discussions on the subjects brought before the Meetings.

(3) NOTES AND MEMORANDA, being extracts from the articles in English and Foreign serial and other publications which relate to the Microscope or the subjects of Microscopical Research, together with notes of any other current matters of interest to Microscopists.

(4) BIBLIOGRAPHY, being a list of the new Books and of the contents of English and Foreign serials (so far as they relate to the Microscope or the subjects of Microscopical Research), most of which are to be seen in the Society's Library.

The Journal will thus contain a summary, brought down to a recent date, of the position and progress of Microscopy in England and abroad.

Authors of papers printed in the Transactions are entitled to twenty copies of their Communications gratis. Extra copies can be had at the price of 12s. 6d. per half sheet of 8 pages or less, including cover (for a minimum number of 100 copies), and 68. per 100 plates if plain. Prepayment by P.O.O. is requested.

All communications as to the Journal should be addressed to the Secretaries, or to Mr. W. W. Reeves, Assistant-Secretary, Royal Microscopical Society, King's College, Strand, W.C.
