Articles of Clerkip to one of the 60 Clerks in Chancery.

Articles, &c. Between R. T. of, &c. Gent. and J. T. one of the Sons of the faid R. T. of the one Part, and W. N. of the Six Clerks Of fice, Gent. of the other Part, as follows:

T is covenanted, &c. that in confideration, &c. he the said W. N.

and during the term of five years next, &c. if he the faid W. N. fhall The clerk not fo long live. That the faid F. T. &c. (as to bis fervice and fidelity as to folicit for ufual;) and that the faid 7. T. fhall not and will not during the faid term, foluit, prosecute, defend, intermeddle with or manage any caufe or caufes in the court of chancery, or in any other court, or in any other manner or way for the advantage of himself or any other perfon or perfons what foever, except the causes of the faid W. N.'s clients, and for the said W. N.'s advantage and benefit, without the confent of the faid W. N. firft had and obtained. The faid W. N. for the confiderations aforefaid, doth for himself, &c. covenant, &c. to and with the faid R. T. his, &c. in manner following, that he the faid W. N. for and during the term aforefaid, fhall and will, to the belt of his skill and knowledge, teach and inftruct the said F. T. as his clerk in the practice and proceedings of the fix clerks office in his majefty's high court of chancery, wherein the faid W. N. hath now a feat, and practifed as a fworn clerk there; and that the faid W. N. fhall forthwith enter him the faid J. T. as his clerk in the faid office, in fuch manner as the faid 7. T. may be capable to be a fworn clerk, according to the conftitution of the faid office; And that he the faid IV. N. fhall and will pay or allow, &c. (Fermages) for and during the term of three years. The faid W. N. doth covenant, &c. to and with the faid R. T. his, &c. that he the faid F. T. continuing to behave and demean himself well in all things, and no ways neglecting his the faid W. N.'s affairs or employ ment, wherein he or any of his clients fhall or may be damnified during the time he shall continue with the faid IV. N. after the faid term of three years, until he be a fworn clerk, or otherwise difpofed of, or leave the fervice of the said W. N. fhall and will allow him the faid 7. T. fuch clerk's fees as are ufually given or allowed to other under clerks of the faid office, for fuch bulinefs as he the faid J. T. fhall do for him the faid W. N. in any manner of ways whatfoever. Item, &c. (to refund, &c.) Layly, It is hereby covenanted, &c. by, &c. that at the expiration of the faid term of three years, and from thenceforth the faid termly allowance of 40s. a term, by these prefents covenanted to be paic and allowed to the faid J. HE faid W. M. for the confideration hereunder mentioned, doth Covenant to covenant, promise and agree, to and with the faid IV. S. his serve, cutors, administrators and affigns, by these prefents in manner following, (that is to say,) That he the faid W. M. fhail and will become fervant unto and diligently ferve, abide and continue with the faid W S. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, from the date of thefe prefents, for and during and unto the full end and term of

next ensuing, as his and their covenant fervant, and diligently and faithfully, according to the best and utmost of his power, fkill and knowledge, exercife and employ himfelf in, and fhall and will during the faid term, do and perform all fuch fervice and business whatfoever, as well relating to the trade aforefaid which the faid W. S. now ufeth, as in and about any other business, matter and thing whatsoever, as the faid W. S. fhall from time to time order, direct and appoint, to and for the most profit and advantage of the faid W. S. that he can; And thall and will and keep fekeep the fecrets of the faid W. S. relating to the faid trade and bufinefs; crets, and be ju!t, &c. and likewife be juft, true and faithful to the faid W. S. in all matters and things, and no ways wrongfully detain, embezle or purloin any monies, goods or things whatfoever belonging to the faid W. S. and alfo fhall and will keep juft, true and faithful accounts in the books of the faid IV. S. and keep acof all the goods bought and fold, monies received and paid, and of all counts, and other things whatfoever relating to the bufinefs of the faid IV.S. as fhall come to be committed to his care, management er difpofal; and from time to time pay all monies which he fhall receive of or belonging to or by the order of the faid W. S. into his hands, and make and give up true and fair accounts of all his actings and doings what foever in his faid employment without fraud or delay, when and as often as he fall be thereto required. And in confideration of the premiffes, and of the feveral Covenant to matters and things by the faid WV. M. to be performed as aforefaid, the find meat, faid W. S. doth for him felf, his executors and administrators, covenant and drink, &c. and agree to and with the faid IV M. by these prefents, that he the faid IV. S. pay wages. his executors and adminiftrators, thall and will find and provide unto and for the faid W. M. in his dwelling houfe, meat, drink, wafhing and lodging; and alfo well and truly pay, or caufe to be paid, unto the faid W. M. his executors or affigos, the fum or falary of ann. of lawful, &c. for the first years, &c. by equal quarterly payments; and fhall and will allow the faid IV. M. fuch reafonable expences in and about the bufinefs aforefaid, as he the faid think fit: And the faid parties do mutually covenant and agree to and Covenant for with the other, viz. That if the faid W. S. fhail not be willing to con each to give tinue the said W. M. in his service after the expiration of the said warning on years, or if the faid W. M. fhall not be widing to ferve and continue parting.

The like to an Undertaker.

Do and perform, and employ himself in the work and fervice of fitting up of coffins, and in and about all fuch other work, fervice and business relating to funerals and dead corps; and otherwise both in L. or elsewhere in E. as occation requires, and as the faid W. L. fhall requise and appoint to be done, to the most profit and advantage of the faid W. L. that he can: And further, That the faid T. S fhall and will keep the fecrets of his faid mafter, and fhall and will be juft, &c. (Vide the loft Precedent) and will not absent himself from the said service at any time without leave or liberty in that behalf: And in confideration, &c. (the mafler covenants to pay wages, &c.) And the faid W. L. doth alfo covenant and agree with the faid T. S. that he will give unto the faid 7. S. a coat, waistcoat and breeches, upon the fealing hereof. (Paal ties may be added.) The like to a Glass-maker.

Articles of Agreement indented; &c. Between W. B. of of the one Part, and J. S. of of the other Part, in Manner following, (that is to fay,)

T HE faid 7, S. doth hereby covenant, promife and agree, to and with the faid IV. B his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, and every of them, by these prefents, in manner following, (that is to fay,) That he the faid 7. S. for and in confideration of the payments and allowances herein after mentioned and expreffed on the part and behalf of the said IV. B. his executors, administrators and affigns, to be paid and allowed, fhall and will truly and faithfully ferve and work for him the faid W. B. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, and do and perform the art, bufinefs and occupation of making plate glas, Normandy or crown glafs, flint glafs, ordinary glafs vials, and all other forts of glafs wares wherein he is skilled, or which he is capable of mak ing, or any of them, as he fhall be from time to time required, ordered or directed by the laid W. B. his executors or adminiftrators, or his or their clerks or fervants in that behalf, (bottle glafs excepted) for and during the term and space of feven years, to commence and be reckoned from the day of the date of thefe prefents, and from thenceforth fully to be compleat and ended. Alfo that the faid J. S. fhall and will be ready at all times during the faid term, at the requeft or demand of the faid H. B. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns, or any of his or their clerks or fervants for the time being, to work for him and them in the making of any of the feveral forts of glaffes aforefaid, at the glafs works or glafs-houfe at or near, &c. or any other glass-works within ten miles of L. where he, they, or any of them, fhall order and appoint

him to work as aforefaid, and that according to the beft of his skill and judgment, and as may be moft for the profit and advantage of the faid W. B. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns. Also that he the faid 7. S. fhall not nor will at any time during the said term, wilfully neglect or depart from the faid work, fervice and employment of the said W. B. his executors, adminiftrators and affigns; nor work to or for any other perfon or perfons whatfoever, in the art or occupation aforefaid, without the leave and licence of him the faid W. B. his executors, adminiftrators or affigns, or fome of them, first had and obtained in writing under his, their, or fome or one of their hands and feals in that behalf. Also that he the faid S. fhall not, nor will, at any time during the faid term, do or caufe, or willingly fuffer to be done, any act, matter or thing what foever, to the hindrance or prejudice of him the faid IV. B. his executors, adminiftrators, partners or affigns, or any of them, in his or their glafs-works or concernments aforefaid, or otherwise howfoever. Also the faid W. S. during the faid term of feven years per week, for weeks in each year; the first weekly payment to begin on the, &c. next enfuing the date of thefe prefents; and of the remaining of each year during the faid term of feven years, thereof he fhall be allowed and paid 10s. per week for play wages, provided he is not employed, and the other fix weeks in the year by agreement are to be allowed for repairing of furnaces, and no payment or allowance is to be made to the faid 7. S. for the laft fix weeks. And lafly, for the true and faithful obferving and performing of all and fingular the articles, covenants, payments and agreements herein before mentioned and expreffed to be, by the faid W. B. his executors and administrators and the faid 7-S. cb ferved, paid and performed as aforefaid, according to the true intent and meaning of thefe prefents, each of them the faid W. B. and J. S. bindeth himfelf, his executors, adminiftrators and affigns unto the other of them, his executors, adminiftrators and affigns refpectively, in the fum or penalty of 500l. of lawful, &c. firmly by these pre fents. Another to a Mill-wright.

HE faid B. (in confideration of the monthly fum of

other the confiderations herein after mentioned to be paid and allowed to him by the faid A. in fuch manner as herein after is in that be half mentioned and expreffed) doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the faid A. in manner as follows, (to wit,) That he the faid B. from the day of the date hereof, for and during the full term of — years, if they the faid A. and B. fhall both fo long live, fhall and will (at the now dwelling-houfe of him the faid A. fituate, &c. or at such other place or places, if by him the faid A. from time to time fo requir ed, ordered and directed) work as a fervant or journeyman, and well and truly and faithfully ferve him the faid A. in the bufinefs of a millwright, carpenter, joiner, turner, and in all fuch other arts, myfteries and work, as he the faid B. now is or fhall be any ways capable of doing or performing, during the term aforefaid, and that according to the beft of his the faid B.'s ability, knowledge and judgment therein; and that he the faid B. during the continuance of the faid term, fhall yearly work and perform the trade or business aforefaid for him the said A. in manner as follows, viz. From the 25th of Alarch to the 29th day of September, from the hours of fix in the morning to fix in the evening, and from the 29th of September to the 25th of March, from day-light to day-light, and that daily, (ficknefs, Sundays, grand feftival days, and ufual hours of breakfaft and dinner, only allowed and excepted): and furthe, that he the faid B. during the term aforefaid, shall not at any time abfent himfelf from fuch fervice of the faid A. nor work, do or perform any fort of the trade or business aforefaid, for the use or benefit of any other perfon or perfons whomfoever, without the confent of him the said A. firft had in writing for that purpofe.

Another to a Stove-maker.

Articles of Agreement indented, &c. Between W. G. of, &c. Stove. maker of the one Part, and J. K. the prefent Servant of the said W. G. of the other Part.

ΤΗ HE faid J. K. (in confideration of the fum of 137. wages, and of his dict and other provifion herein after agreed to be paid and al lowed him in fuch manner as herein after is mentioned) doth here. by covenant and agree to and with the faid W. G. in manner fol lowing, (to wit,) That he the faid 7. K. fhall and will well, truly and honeftly, and according to the best of his knowledge and ability, ferve the faid W.
