and the Supplements thereto.

Relative to the establishment and jurisdiction of magistrates' courts in the city of Philadelphia, in compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of this Commonwealth.

WHEREAS, The Constitution of this Commonwealth Preamble No. 1. requires that in Philadelphia there shall be established, for each thirty thousand inhabitants, one court, not of record, of police and civil causes, with jurisdiction not exceeding one hundred dollars;

And whereas, It appears, by the United States census Preamble No. 2. of one thousand eight hundred and eighty, that Philadelphia has eight hundred and forty-six thousand nine hundred and eighty (846,980) inhabitants, and only twenty-four courts of such jurisdiction, although entitled to twenty-eight; Now, therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted, &c., That there be hereby established, in Philadelphia, four additional courts, not of record, of police and civil causes, with jurisdiction not exceeding one hundred dollars. Each of said courts to be held by one magistrate, whose term of office shall be five years. SECTION 2.
