It will be seen by a reference to the last of the foregoing statements, that a large sum, arising from the sale of the Wabash and Erie Canal lands, now remains in the Treasury, subject to the operations now going forward in the construction of the great work of connecting Lake Erie with the waters of the Wabash river. These moneys will, however, soon be required to be disbursed, as the entire line of Canal in Ohio, is now under contract, and the work in rapid progress to completion.
