To incorporate the First Congregational Society of Hinckley, in the county of Me

dina.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That David Cleveland, Thomas N. Easton, Horace Waite, Curtis Bullard, and Joseph Piper, and those who now are, or hereafter may be, associated with them, be, and they are hereby, created a body politic and corporate by the name of the "First Congregational Society of Hinckley," agreeably to an act passed March 5th, 1836, entitled an "Act in relation to incor porated religious societies;" and shall hold their first annual meeting for the election of officers by the persons named in this act, or a majority of them, giving at least ten days' notice in writing, posted up in three or more public places within the limits of the said society.

AN ACT

To incorporate the First Presbyterian Church and Society in the village of Richmond, in the county of Geauga.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That George Everett, Joseph L. Kellog, Abram Davis, Isaac Everett, and John Dorchester, and those who may hereafter be associated with them, are hereby created a body politic and corporate, by the name of the "First Presbyterian Church and Society in Richmond," agreeably to an act passed March 5, 1836, entitled "An act in relation to incorporated religious societies;" and shall hold their first annual meeting for the election of officers by any three or more of the persons named in this act, giving ten days' notice in writing, posted up in three public places in the village, of the time and place of holding the same.

Milton Gaylord, Amos Penfield, Lewis Penfield, William Andrews, and those who may be hereafter associated with them, be, and they are hereby, created a body politic and corporate, by the name of the "First Congregational Society of Penfield;" agreeably to an act passed March 5th, 1836, entitled "An act in relation to incorporated religious societies;" and shall hold their first meeting for the election of officers by the persons named in this act, or a majority of them, giving ten days' notice in writing, posted up in three public places in said township, of the time and place of holding the same.

Supplementary to the act entitled "An act to incorporate the Milan Canal Com

pany."

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That the capital stock of the Milan Canal Company be, and hereby is, increased forty thousand dollars, in shares of fifty dollars each.

Sec. 2. That the subscriptien book to the said increased capital stock, may be opened and kept open at such times and places, and by such per

son or persons as the board of directors of said company, and the town council of the town of Milan, may direct, to receive subscriptions thereto, and in no other manner.

Sec. 3. That a further time of three years from the passage of this act be, and is hereby, given to said company, to complete said canal and other works of said company connected therewith.

AN ACT

To incorporate the Wardens and Vestry of St. Luke's Church of Columbia, in the county of Lorain.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That Thomas Squires, Orange Clark, Simeon Nichols, and their associates, are hereby created a body politic and corporate, by the name of the "Wardens and Vestry of St. Luke's Church of Columbia," agreeably to an act, passed March 5, 1836, entitled "An act in relation to incorporated religious societies;" and shall hold their first meeting for election of their officers by the persons named in this act, or a majority of them, giving ten days' notice in writing, posted up in three public places, one of which shall be the usual place of holding meetings of said society of the time and place of holding the same.

AN ACT

To incorporate the Society of United Christians at Berea, in the county of Cuy

ahoga.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That James Gilruth, Henry O. Sheldon, John Baldwin, Hiram A. Pease, and such other persons as may hereafter be associated with them, be, and they and their successors are hereby constituted a body corporate and politic in law, under the name of "The Community of United Christians, at Berea," and by that name to remain in perpetual succession, with power to elect trustees and other officers; to make and use a common seal, and change the same; to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded; to acquire, hold and convey property, real, personal and mixed, the nett proceeds of which is to be appropriated to literary and benevolent purposes, and five thou

sand dollars only to be exempt from taxation: Provided, The amount held at one time shall not exceed fifty thousand dollars; with power also to make and alter by-laws and regulations: Provided, Such by-laws and regulations shall not contravene the Constitution of the United States nor the constitution and laws of this State.

Sec. 2. That any future Legislature may alter, amend or repeal this act: Provided, The title of any property, held or conveyed under its provi sions, shall not thereby be affected, nor diverted from the literary, scientific or benevolent purpose for which it was conveyed.

AN ACT

To lay out and extend the Clinton State Road through the county of Columbiana, to the Pennsylvania State line.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That John Quin, Peter Bushong, and Hugh Gaston, jr., of the county of Columbiana, be, and they are hereby, appointed commissioners, to lay out, establish and extend the Clinton State road from the town of Fairfield, by Cannon's and Young's mills, to the Pennsylvania State line, at the point where the New Lisbon and Beavertown road crosses said line.

Sec. 2. That the commissioners aforesaid shall be governed in all respects by the law now in force, defining the mode of laying out and establishing State roads, passed March 14th, 1831; and the expenses of laying out and establishing said road, shall be paid in the manner pointed out in said act.

Sec. 3. Should either of the commissioners die, refuse to serve, or move out of the county, such vacancy shall be filled by the commissioners of said county.

AN ACT

To incorporate the Maumee and Perrysburg Toll Bridge Company.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That Horatio Conant, Levi Beebee, Robert A. Forsyth, Hiram Steel, John E. Hunt, and William Kingsbury, of Maumee city; Henry Bennett, John Hill, and Aurora Spafford, of Perrysburgh; and Ogden Mallary, of Sandusky

city, and their associates, and such other persons as may hereafter be associated with them, be, and they are hereby, created a body corporate and politic, by the name and style of the "Maumee and Perrysburgh Toll Bridge Company;" and as such shall remain and have succession for the period of thirty years; and by their corporate name may contract and be contracted with, sue and be sued, defend and be defended, in any court of competent jurisdiction, and may have a common seal, which they may alter or change at pleasure.

Sec. 2. That said corporation be, and they are hereby, authorized to erect a toll bridge across the Maumee river, at the foot of Conant street, or between Conant and Ford streets: Provided, The said company shall own the land on both banks of said river where said bridge shall be erected, or shall obtain in writing from the owner or owners of the land on both sides of the river where said bridge may be built, their consent to the building of said bridge, unless said banks on both sides be a public highway. Sec. 3. That the said company, in the erection of said bridge, shall in no wise injure or obstruct the navigation of said river.

Sec. 4. That if the said company shall erect and complete said bridge in a good and substantial manner, of proper width, and in other respects of sufficient strength and dimensions, so as to admit of the safe passage of passengers, teams and carriages of all dimensions, within three years from the passage of this act, they shall, from the time of completing said bridge, enjoy all the privileges secured to them by this act.

Sec. 5. That after the completion of said bridge as aforesaid, the proprietors thereof are hereby authorized to demand and receive from passengers who may cross said bridge, the following rates of toll, to wit: For each foot passenger, two cents; for each horse, mule or ass, one year old and upwards, four cents; for each horse and rider, twelve and one-half cents; for every chaise, chair, gig or other two-wheeled pleasure carriage, with one horse and driver, twenty-five cents; for every coach, chariot, or other four-wheeled pleasure carriage, drawn by two horses, and driver, thirty-seven and one-half cents; the same drawn by four horses, fifty cents; for every sled or sleigh, drawn by one horse or other animal, eighteen and three-fourths cents; for each horse or other animal in addition, six and one-fourth cents; for every wagon, drawn by one horse or other animal, eighteen and three-fourths cents; for every horse in addition, six and onefourth cents; for every wagon drawn by two horses or other animals, twenty-five cents; for every horse or other animal in addition, six and onefourth cents; for each head of neat cattle, six months old or upwards, two cents; and for every head of sheep, goats or hogs, one cent: Provided, That all public mails, expresses, and passengers, which are exempt, or which shall hereafter be exempt from the payment of ferriages, and all troops of the United States or of this State, with their baggage and stores, all persons going to or returning from public worship, and all school teachers, and persons going to, and returning from, school; all funeral processions, and persons going to, and returning from elections, and all persons necessarily going to, and returning from, military trainings, shall pass on said bridge free of toll.

Sec. 6. That the proprietors of said bridge shall, previous to receiving any tolls, set up and keep in a conspicuous place, over or near the gate to
