Sec. 12. That, at the expiration of twenty years after the completion of said bridge, the county commissioners of said county of Butler shall have the right to purchase said bridge, paying to the stockholders the amount expended in the construction and repairs, with six per centum per annum thereon, deducting therefrom the amount of donations and tolls by them received.

AN ACT

To change the name of the town of Harrisburgh, in the county of Preble, to that of Gettysburgh.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That the name of the town of Harrisburgh, in the county of Preble, is hereby changed, and shall hereafter be known and designated by the name of Gettysburgh.

Sec. 2. That no right or title to any property heretofore acquired, shall, in any wise, be affected by the passage of this act.

AN ACT

To amend the act entitled,'An act to incorporate the Springfield Firemen's Insurance Company," passed March 22, 1837.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That upon each subscription to the capital stock of the Springfield Firemen's Insurance Company, two dollars shall be paid at the time of subscribing, and the residue shall be paid at such times as the president and directors shall appoint.

Sec. 2. That said company shall be empowered to commence business when one-twentieth of the capital stock shall have been paid.

Sec. 3. This act, and the act to which this is an amendment, shall be deemed void, unless at least one-twentieth of the capital stock of said company shall be paid in, on or before the first day of December, eighteen hundred and thirty-eight.

Sec. 4. This act, and the act to which this is an amendment, shall be deemed and taken in all courts and places as a public act, and the printed copies thereof, as printed in the local laws, shall be full evidence thereof.

Sec. 5. That the books of subscription shall be open on the first Monday of April next, at the places and under the regulations mentioned in the act to which this is an amendment.

Sec. 6. That so much of the act entitled "An act to incorporate the Springfield Firemens' Insurance Company," passed March 22, 1837, as is inconsistent with this act, be, and the same is hereby, repealed.

AN ACT

To vacate certain parts of State roads in Franklin and Madison counties.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That so much of the old Springfield road as lies between the east line of Edwin Tiffin's survey, on Big Darby, in Franklin county, and a point on said road due south from the nineteenth mile stone on the Cumberland road, in Madison county; also, that part of the old Urbana road between the old Springfield road, in Madison county, and the point where said old road intersects the newly laid out Urbana road, about one mile from the intersection of said new road with the Cumberland road, be, and the same is hereby vacated.

AN ACT

To lay out and establish a graded State road in the counties of Lawrence and Gallia.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That Charles Kelley and George Irvin, of Lawrence county, and Jehu Mc Daniel, of Gallia county, are hereby appointed commissioners, and Joseph Fletcher, of Gallia county, surveyor, to lay out and establish a graded State road, commencing in the county of Lawrence, at the Hanging Rock on the Ohio river, thence to the Etna Furnace, thence to Patriot, in the county of Gallia, and thence to Wilksville, in the last named county.

Sec. 2. That said road shall, in no case, exceed an angle of five degrees with the horizon; and said commissioners are hereby authorized to receive and collect all subscriptions and donations that may be made for opening and improving said road, or for constructing bridges on the same, and shall appropriate the same so received on such part of said road, or

such bridge or bridges on the same, as said subscribers of donors shall designate.

Sec. 3. That three hundred dollars of the three per cent. fund, which is, or may hereafter, become due to the county of Lawrence, be expended under the direction of the commissioners named in the first section of this act, who shall keep an accurate account of the expenditure thereof, and report the same, with the proper vouchers, to the commissioners of said county.

Sec. 4. That in the event of the death of either of the commissioners or surveyor named in this act, or should either of them refuse to serve, or remove out of the county, his place shall be supplied by the commissioners of the county in which vacancy or vacancies shall happen; the commissioners and surveyor aforesaid shall be governed, in all respects, by the law now in force defining the mode of laying out and establishing State roads, and shall receive the fees provided for in said act, passed March 14, 1831.

AN ACT

To incorporate the Circleville Squaring Company.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That Thomas Huston, Edson B. Olds, and Andrew Huston, and their associates, be, and they are hereby, constituted a body corporate and politic, with succession for the period of twenty years, by the name and style of the "Circleville Squarring Company," for the purpose of effecting an alteration in the circular part of said town of Circleville; and by the name aforesaid they may contract and be contracted with, sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, defend and be defended, in all courts of law and equity in this State, and elsewhere; may purchase, sell, and convey real estate, within the limits of the said town of Circleville; may have a common seal, which they may alter, abolish, and renew at pleasure; may make, establish, and enforce all such by-laws, rules, and regulations, not inconsistent with the constitution and laws of the United States, and of this State, as they may deem expedient for the efficient and proper management of the affairs of said company; and may elect such officers as shall be provided for in such by-laws, rules and regulations.

Sec. 2. That the capital stock of said company shall not exceed one hundred thousand dollars, and shall consist of shares of one hundred dollars each; and as soon as ten thousand dollars of said stock shall be subseribed, notice shall be given, by publication in a newspaper in said town, to the stockholders of said company, to meet at a place and on a day named in said notice not less than five days after the first publication thereof, to establish by-laws and organize said company; and in all elections of officers,

and in all questions decided by a vote of the stockholders, each stockholder 'shall be entitled to one vote for each share he may hold.

Sec. 3. That the persons named in the first section of this act be, and they are hereby, appointed commissioners, for the purpose of obtaining subscriptions to stock in said company, giving notice of the first meeting of the stockholders; and they are hereby authorized to open books for the subscription of said stock, at such time or times as they shall think proper.

Sec. 4. That it shall not be lawful for the said corporation to engage in banking, or to discount any evidence of debt, or to issue any note, or bond or bill for the purpose of loaning the same.

To incorporate the Frst Cengregationalist Church and Society of Edinburgh, in the county of Portage.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That Ethel Strong, Silas Comstock, E. Bostwick, G. Keene, Justin Eddy, Frederick Wadsworth, and Charles Bingham, and their associates, and those who may hereafter be associated with them, be, and they are hereby, created a body politic and corporate by the name of "The First Congressional Church and Society of Edinburgh," agreeably to " An act in relation to incorporated religious societies," passed March 5, 1836; and shall hold their first meeting for the election of officers, by the individuals named in this act, giving ten days' notice in writing, posted up in three public places in Edinburgh, of the time and place of holding the same. AN ACT

To incorporate the Salem Presbyterian Church, in the county of Miami, under the care and government of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That James Long, John Scott, Henry Whitmore, John Bright, Robert Talbert, Samuel Sproule, and those who now are, or hereafter may be, associated

with them, be, and they are hereby created a body politic and corporate, by the name of the "Salem Presbyterian Church in the county of Miami, under the care and government of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States;" agreeably to an act passed March 5th, A. D. 1836, entitled "An act in relation to incorporated religious societies," and shall hold their first meeting for the election of officers by the persons named in this act, or a majority of them, giving at least ten days' notice in writing, posted within the limits of the proper society, in three public places, stating the time and place of holding said meeting.

Brown, James Wilson, William Brown, Mathew Dinsmore, and James McGuillen, and those who now are, or hereafter may be, associated with them, be, and they are hereby, created a body politic and corporate, by the name of the "Presbyterian Church of Newton, in the county of Miami, under the care and government of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States;" agreeably to an act passed March 5, A. D. 1856, entitled "An act in relation to incorporated religious societies;" and shall hold their first meeting for the election of officers, by the persons named in this act, or a majority of them, giving at least ten days notice in writing, posted up within the limits of the proposed society, in three public places, stating the time and place of holding said meeting.
