AN ACT

To change the name of the town of Jacksonville to that of Versailles.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That the name of the town of Jacksonville, in the county of Darke, is hereby changed, and shall hereafter be known and designated by the name of Versailles.

Sec. 2. That no right or title to any property heretofore acquired, shall in any wise be affected by the passage of this act.

AN ACT

To lay out and establish a State Road in the counties of Scioto, Adams and

Highland.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That Charles O. Tracy, of the county of Scioto, Urban W. Cannon, of the county of Adams, and Daniel Holt, of the county of Highland, be, and they are hereby, appointed commissioners, to lay out and establish a State road, commencing at Portsmouth, in Scioto county, running the nearest and best route, crossing the Scioto river at Crain's defeat, the Ohio canal at the State bridge near George Greaves'; thence along the west side of the canal to the line between the lands of Lucas and Trimble; thence the nearest and best way to the mouth of the west fork of Scioto Brush creek; thence the nearest and best way to Locust Grove, in Adams county; thence the nearest and best way to Hillsborough, in Highland county.

Sec. 2. That the aforesaid commissioners shall, in all respects, be governed by the law now in force, defining the mode of laying out and establishing State roads, passed March 14th, 1831

Sec. 3. That should a vacancy occur in any of the foregoing appointments, by death, removal, or otherwise, the county commmissioners, or any two of them, of the county in which such vacancy may happen, shall forthwith proceed to fill the same, on being notified thereof.

To change the name of Morris street, in the town of Rossville, Butler county, to that of Main.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That the name of Morris street, in the town of Rossville, Butler county, be, and the same is hereby, changed to that of Main.

AN ACT

To authorize the Commissioners of Crawford county to borrow money.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That the county commissioners of the county of Crawford, and their successors in office, for the term of five years from and after the passage of this act, be, and they are hereby, authorized to borrow, on the credit of said county, a sum of money not exceeding four thousand dollars, at a rate of interest not exceeding six per centum per annum; which money, when borrowed under the provisions of this act, shall be applied by the commissioners of said county to the discharge of any debt or debts, which may be hereafter contracted by said commissioners, for the erection of a jail in said county, and to no other purpose whatever.

AN ACT

Making special appropriation of part of the Three per cent. fund, in the county of Champaign.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That forty dollars of the Three per cent. fund, belonging to the county of Champaign, be applied under the direction of William Auders, to improving so much of the State road, leading from Milford, in Union county, to Bellefontaine, in Logan county, as lies within the county of Champaign. AN ACT

To amend the act entitled "An act to incorporate the Washington Insurance Company of Cincinnati."

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That from and after the first day of January, in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, the shares of the capital stock of the Washington Insurance Company of Cincinnati may be reduced, by the stockholders, to twentyfive dollars each.

AN ACT

To lay out and establish a graded State road in the counties of Stark and Carroll.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That John Unkerfer and John Moor, of the county of Stark, and John Potter, of the county of Carroll, be, and they are hereby, appointed commissioners, and Jacob Champer, of Carroll county, surveyor, to lay out and establish a graded State road, commencing at the town of Franklin, in Stark county, running thence the nearest and best way to Minerva, in said county; thence the nearest and best way to Carrollton, in Carroll county; said road not to exceed an angle of five degrees with the horizon.

Sec. 2. That the commissioners and surveyor aforesaid, shall, in all respects, be governed by the law now in force, defining the mode of laying out and establishing State roads, passed March 14, 1831.

Sec. 3. That should a vacancy occur in any of the foregoing appointments, by death, removal or otherwise, the county commissioners, or any two of them, of the county in which such vacancy may happen, shall forthwith fill the same, on being notified thereof, as often as it shall occur. C. ANTHONY,

AN ACT

To amend "An act to incorporate the town of Minerva, in the counties of Stark and Carroll."

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That it shall be lawful for the white male inhabitants, residing within the limits of the town of Minerva, in the counties of Stark and Carroll, having the qualifications of electors of the General Assembly, to meet at some convenient place in said town, at any time after the expiration of twenty days from the passage of this bill, and annually, from the time of the first election, and then and there proceed to elect by ballot, one mayor, one recorder, and five trustees, who shall be householders, and the persons so elected shall hold their office one year, and until their successors are elected and qualified: and they, when elected and qualified, shall constitute a town council: Provided, however, That at least ten days' notice shall be given in writing, set up in three of the most public places in said town, setting forth the time and place of holding said election: And, provided further, That any failure to elect, under the act to which this is an amendment, shall not be held as a forfeiture of any of their corporate powers.

Sec. 2. That so much of the act to which this is an amendment, as is inconsistent with this amendment, be, and the same is hereby, repealed. C. ANTHONY,

AN ACT

To lay out and establish a State road in the counties of Putnam, Paulding and Williams.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That Henry Wing, of Putnam county, Christopher Sroufe, of Paulding county, and John Mason, of Williams county, be, and they are hereby, appointed

commissioners to lay out and establish a State road in the counties aforesaid, commencing at Ottawa, in said Putnam county; thence down the Blanchard river, on the north side, to, or near the mouth of said river; thence down the Au Glaize river, on the east side thereof, to intersect the Upper Sandusky and Findlay State road, at or near the Widow Shirley's, in said Williams county.

Sec. 2. That, the commissioners aforesaid shall be governed, in all respects, by the law now in force, defining the mode of laying out and establishing State roads; and should either of the said commissioners die, remove out of the county, or refuse to serve, the commissioners of the county in which such vacancy may occur, are hereby authorized to fill the same.

AN ACT

To amend an act to incorporate the Dayton Western Bridge Company.

Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That the Dayton Western Bridge Company, be, and they are hereby allowed until the 13th day of February, 1843, within which to erect and complete the bridge, for the building and erection of which, said company was incorporated; and that said company shall be as fully entitled to all the rights, privileges and immunities, and subject to all the restrictions and regulations of the act to which this is amendatory, as if said bridge had been erected and completed within five years from the 13th February,

1833.
