Cap. His Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act or Ordinance to explain and amend an "Act, entituled," An Act or Ordinance for better regulating the Militia of this Province "and rendering it of more general utility towards the prefervation and fecurity thereof," And alfo an A&t of the Legiflature of this Province paffed in the thirty fourth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, " An Act to provide for the greater fecurity of this Province, 36 Geo. 3. Cap." by the better regulation of the Malitia thereof, and for repealing certain Acts or Ordinances "relating to the fame." And alfo another Act paffed in the thirty fixth year of His prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled, " An Act to continue and amend an A& paffed by the "Legiflature of this Province in the thirty fourth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for the greater fecurity of this Province by the better regulation of the Militia "thereof and for repealing certain Acts or Ordinances relating to the fame," shall be and are hereby repealed.

LIV. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that this A&t fhall be and continue in force from the paffing thereof, until the first day of July, which will be in the year of our Lord one thoufand eight hundred and feven, and no longer, Provided always, that if at the term above fixed for the expiration of this Act, the Province fhall be in a ftate of War, Invafion or Infurrection, the faid Act fhallicontinue and be in force until the end of fuch War, Invafion or Infurrection.

AN A&t for applying a certain fum of money therein mentioned, to make good the like fum iffued and advanced by His Majesty's Orders, in purfuance of an Addrefs of the Houfe of Affembly.

HEREAS in pursuance of the Addrefs of the House of Affembly, bearing date

fix Thousand Pounds, current money of this Province, by Your Majefty's Orders, has been iffued and advanced to the Commiffioners appointed, by virtue of and under the authority of an Act paffed in the thirty ninth year of Your Majefty's Reign, intituled, 39 Geo. 3. "An Act for erecting Court Houfes with proper Offices in the feveral Districts of Quebec and

May it therefore pleafe Your Ma jefty, that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the Legiflative Council and Affembly of the Province of Lower-Canada, conftituted and affembed by virtue of and under the auof an Act passed in the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, "An Act to repeal

Et qu'il foit de plus ftatué par l'autorité fufdite, que cet A&te fera et continuera d'être en force depuis la paflation d'icelui, jufqu'au premier jour de Juillet cet Ate. qui fera dans l'Année de notre Seigneur, mil huit cent fept et pas plus longtems; pourvu toujours, que fi, lors du terme ci-deffus fixé pour la fin de cet Acte, la Province étoit dans un état de guerre, d'invafion ou d'infurrection, le dit Acte continue- guerre, il conti ra d'être en force jufqu'à la fin de la dite guerre, invafion ou infurrection.

"certain parts of an Act, paffed in the fourteenth year of His Majefty's Reign, inti"tuled, An A&t for making more effectual provifion for the Government of the Province of "Quebec, in North America," and to make further provifion for the Government of "the faid Province," and it is hereby enacted by the authority aforefaid, that out of the furplus of any fund or funds, fubject to the difpofition of the Provincial Parlia A 35 Geo: 3 ment, under the authority of an A& paffed in the thirty fifth year of His Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An At for granting to His Majefly, additional and new Duties on Goods, "Wares and Merchandizes and for appropriating the fame towards further defraying the charges of the Administration of Justice and fupport of the Civil Government within this "Province, and for other purpofes therein mentioned," and alfo, under and by virtue 3 of another Act paffed in the thirty fifth year of His Majefty's Reign, intituled, " An "Act for granting to His Majefty, Duties on Licences to Hawkers, Pedlars and Petty Chapmen, "and for regulating their Trade, and for granting additional Duties on Licences to perfons "foy keeping Houses for Public Entertainment or for retailing Wine, Brandy, Rum or other "Spirituous Liquors in this Province, and for regulating the fame, and for repealing the A& or Ordinance therein mentioned," and alfo under and by virtue of another Act, paffed in the forty first year of His Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for granting to His Majefty, certain new Duties on the Importation into this Province of all manufactured Tobacco, "and Snuff, and for difallowing the Drawback on Tobacco manufactured within this Province," and now remaining in the hands of the Receiver General of this Province, unappropriated, there shall be issued and applied the fum of fix Thousand pounds, current money of this Province, to make good the like fum, which has, fo as aforefaid, been iffued and advanced, by His Mafelty's Orders, in pursuance of the aforefaid Address of the House of Affembly.

"accorder une augmentation de Droits fur les Licences de perfonnes qui tiennent des maifons Publiques, ou qui détaillent du Vin, de l'Eau-de-Vie, du Rum ou aucune autre liqueur forte dans cette Province, et pour les règler, et pour abroger un Ale ou Ordon"nance y mentionné," et auffi fous et en vertu d'un autre Acte, paffé dans la quarante- de Geo: unième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitulé, " Acte qui accorde à Sa Majesté certains droits nouveaux et additionels fur l'importation dans cette Province de tout "Tabac manufacturé et Tabac en poudre, et qui retranche les rabais fur le Tabac manufacturé dans cette Province," et qui restent entre les mains du Receveur Général de cette Province fans être appropriés, il fera débourfé et appliqué la fomme de fix mille Livres, argent courant de cette Province, pour rembourfer la même fomme qui a été, comme fufdit, débourfée et avancée, par les Ordres de Sa Majesté en conféquence de la fufdite Adreffe de la Chambre d'Affemblée.
