SECTION 3. Authorizing the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal church, in Meadville, to borrow

money.

SECTION 1. Supplementary to an act, entitled "An Act to confirm the title of the General Greene beneficial society of the city and county of Philadelphia, to certain ground rents," passed the twenty-eighth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and forty-eight.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That First preamble of the first preamble of the act to which this is a supplement be altered, the act to which amended and supplied, so as to read as follows:- WHEREAS, George this is a supple- G. Williams and wife, by indenture, dated the eighteenth day of October, Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and forty-seven, intended to be recorded, granted and assigned unto the said the General Greene beneficial society of the city and county of Philadelphia, and to their successors and assigns forever, all that certain yearly ground rent, a sum of thirtyfive dollars, lawful silver money of the United States of America, chargeable on, and issuing, and payable in half yearly payments forever, without any deduction for taxes, out of a certain lot or piece of ground situate on the west side of Delaware Front street, at the dis

tance of one hundred and sixty-three feet southward from the corner

of Otter street, in Kensington aforesaid.

SECTION 2. That so much of the said act as is hereby altered, Repeal, &c. amended or supplied, be and the same is hereby repealed; and that so much of the said section as is not hereby altered, amended or supplied, together with the said amendment or alteration, be and the same is hereby to continue in full force and operation.

AN ACT

To authorize Francis W. Hughes to sell and convey certain real estate.

WHEREAS, John Hughes, late of the city of Philadelphia, now deceased, by his last will and testament did authorize and empower his Preamble. executors, with the approbation of a majority of his sons, after his youngest son should arrive at legal age, to sell his farm in Upper Merion township, Montgomery county, consisting as is described in said last will and testament, of the Walnut Grove property, and as much off of the east end of his woodland, as with the cleared land, would make two hundred acres: And whereas, Letters testamentary were issued on said will to Benjamin B. Hughes and Thomas W. Hughes, two of the executors therein named: And whereas, The said Benjamin B. Hughes is desirous of becoming a purchaser of said farm; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That

SUPPLEMENT

To the act, entitled "An Act to incorporate the Equitable life insurance company."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the board of trustees mentioned in the fifth section of said act, shall hereafter consist of seventeen persons and a secretary, to be elected annually, in the manner provided by the said act; and the board as it existed on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine. shall continue and exercise and enjoy all the powers conferred on the first board named in, and created by said act, until the next annual election hereafter; and the period allowed by the seventh section thereof, for holding an election in the event of its being omitted on the appointed day, is hereby extended to ninety days.

To incorporate the Saint Anne's widows' asylum of Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, Francis Patrick, Kenrick Francis, Xavier Gartland. Nicholas Cantwell, William Whelan, Michael M'Grath, Michael M'Gill, John Scravendyke, Anthony F. Corkrin, William Wilcox, Francis Tierman, James Reilly, John Gegan, and Mark Anthony Frenaye, citizens of this commonwealth, have associated together for the purpose of establishing an asylum for aged and destitute widows and single women; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the persons named in the above preamble, and their successors, be and they are hereby created a corporation or body politic in law, by the
