Chapter V of the "Government of Michigan" was prepared from matter contained in several histories of Ohio and Michigan. Since writing it, the author has had access to important legal documents and sworn testimony in regard to the controversy between Ohio and Michigan, and has thus been enabled to furnish the public with a more complete and authentic account of that difficulty.
