[PAGE 246]. The Assessors' returns from Placer, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz and Solano, increase the number of horses in the State to 172,500. The cattle, to 891,000 and the sheep to 467,300. The number of cattle at the present time in the State will probably reach 925,000 and the sheep 500,000.
