At a Common Council held on Monday the 22d June 1801 Richard Varick Esq' Mayor Richard Harison Esqr Recorder Selah Strong John Bogert Philip Brasher On reading a Representation of Wm Laight & others as to certain Difficulties which have arisen & which renders it impracticable to comply with the Ordinance for filling in the Water Lots between Pecks Slip & Dover Street by the time limited it was ordered that the time be extended to the 1st day of October next [223] A proposal of the Vestry of Trinity Church to cede to this Corporation certain of their Land (used as a Street & commonly called Brannons Street) for the purposes of a public Street on certain Conditions; was read & referred to the Street Commissrs A Petition to sink a Well at the Corner of Hudson & Provoost Streets was read & referred to the St Commiss's A Petition of Capt Randall McDonald for Relief on a Suit brought agt him on the Law regulating the landing of Passengers was read & granted on the usual Terms. A Petition of John B. Coles Esq' for a Grant under the common Seal of the Soil from High to low Water Mark at his Bridge over Harlem River as the same was offered & promised by this Bd at the time of his undertaking to erect the said Bridge was read & referred to the Ald" of the 3d & 4th Wards & the Assistt of the 5th Wd to enquire into & report a proper description of the Soil to be granted. A Request of Ephraim Morgan, on behalf of the Commissrs for improving the navigation of Hudson River between Albany & Troy, for the loan of the Mud Machine used to clear the public Slips was read & referred to the Ald" of the 1st 2d & 4th Wards. A Petition of Wm Nexen to be a Weigh Master was read & postponed. |
