T the Provincial Parliament, begun and holden at Quebec, the eighth "A day of January, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and twen ty-five, in the fifth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the "Fourth, by the Grace of GOD, of the United Kingdom of Great-Britain and "Ireland King, Defender of the Faith, and from thence continued, by seve"ral prorogations, to the twenty-third day of January, one thousand eight "hundred and twenty-seven ; " Being the Third Session of the Twelfth Provincial Parliament of Lower"Canada." AN ACT to continue, for a limited time, certain provisions of anAct therein mentioned, passed in the fourth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act to render valid certain Acts, Agreements in writing and Con"tracts of Marriage, (Contrats de Mariage sous Seing privé,) hereto"fore executed in the Inferior District of Gaspé, and to provide for the "want of Notaries in the said Inferior District." Acts, Agreements in writing and Contracts of Marriage, (Contrats de Ma"riages sous seing privé,) heretofore executed in the Inferior District of Gaspé, " and to provide for the want of Notaries in the said Inferior District," is to expire on the ninth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven, which said clause, and all and every the provisions thereof it is expedient to continue for a limited time; Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Assembly of the Province of Lower-Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, "An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for making more "effectual provision for the Government of the Province of Quebec, in North "America," and to make further provision for the Government of the said Pro"vince;" And it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, that the said tenth clause or section of the aforesaid Act passed in the fourth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, "An Act to render valid certain Acts, Agreements in writing and Contracts of Marriage, (Contrats de Mariages sous seing privé,) heretofore executed in the Inferior District of Gaspé, and to provide for the "want of Notaries in the said Inferior District," and all and every the Provisions in the said tenth clause or section made and enacted, shall continue to be and remain in full force and effect until the first day of July, one thousand eight. bundred and twenty-nine, and no longer. CA P. II. AN ACT for removing doubts respecting the construction of a certain part of the Act of the thirty-fifth year of the Reign of His late Majesty, George the Third, chap, 4, intituled, "An Act to establish the form "of Registers of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, to confirm and "make valid in law the Register of the Protestant Congregation of "Christ-Church, Montreal, and others which may have been inform"ally kept, and to afford the means of remedying omissions in former Registers," as also for removing doubts about the validity of certain Marriages herein mentioned, Freamble. W (7th March, 1827.) HEREAS the Act passed in the thirty-fifth year of the Reign of His late "establish "cords par écrit et Contrats de Mariages sous seing privé, ci-devant passés et "exécutés dans le District Inférieur de Gaspé, et qui supplée au défaut de No"taires résidans dans le District Inférieur," doit expirer le neuvième jour de Mars, mil huit cent vingt-sept, laquelle dite Clause et toutes et chacune des provisions d'icelle, il est expédient de continuer pour un tems limité: Qu'il soit donc statué par la Très Excellente Majesté du Roi, par et de l'avis et consentement du Conseil Législatif et de l'Assemblée de la Province du Bas-Canada, constitués et assemblés en vertu et sous l'autorité d'un Acte passé dans le Parlement de la Grande-Bretagne, intitulé, "Acte qui rappelle certaines parties d'un Acte passé dans la quatorzième année du Règne de Sa Majesté, intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement pour le Gouvernement de la Province de Québec, "dans l'Amérique Septentrionale," et qui pourvoit plus amplement pour le Gouvernement de la dite Province." Et il est par le présent statué par la dite Continuation autorité, que la dite dixième clause ou section de l'Acte susdit passé dans la de la dixième quatrième année du Règne de Sa Majesté, intitulé," Acte pour valider certains tion de l'Acte "Actes, Accords par écrit et Contrats de Mariages sous seing privé, ci-devant de la 4e. "passés et exécutés dans le District Inférieur de Gaspé, et qui supplée au défaut "de Notaires résidans dans le dit District Inférieur," et toutes et chacune des provisions faites et statuées dans la dite dixième clause ou section, continueront d'être et demeureront en pleine force et effet jusqu'au premier jour de Juillet,, mil huit cent vingt-neuf, et pas plus longtems. ACTE pour lever les doutes concernant l'interprétation d'une certaine par-tie de l'Acte de la trente-cinquième année du Règne de feu Sa Majesté, George Trois, chapitre quatre, intitulé, "Acte qui établit la forme des Régîtres de Baptêmes, Mariages et Sépultures, qui confirme et "rend valable en loi le Régître de la Congrégation Protestante de "Christ-Church à Montréal, et autres qui ont été tenus d'une manière in"forme, et qui fournit les moyens de remédier aux omissions faites dans "les anciens Régîtres," ainsi que pour lever les doutes quant à la vali"dité de certains Mariages y mentionnés..
