Vincenzo Vacante is professor of general and applied entomology at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria (Italy). He is specialist of Acarologia and Integrated Pest Management of Mediterranean crops. He was convener of the Working Group "Integrated Control in Citrus Fruits Crops " of IOBC (International Organization of Biological Control) and has cooperated with the Commission of European Communities and the ACTA (Association de Coordination Technique Agricole) for the implementation of the European network ETIC in the Mediterranean region. He has held courses and conferences in various Research Centers and universities in Europe and is member of the editorial board of different journals. Since 2007, he has been the Director of the Doctoral School of the Mediterranean University. He is also author of about 190 works, including different volumes regarding the pests control of the Mediterranean crops.
