OFFICERS APPOINTED BY THE BOARD:

JAMES N. TATE,

JAS. J. DOW,

Superintendent of the School for the Blind.

To His Excellency John A. Johnson, Governor of Minnesota:

In compliance with the law we respectfully present to you the fourteenth biennial report of the Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, being the forty-second and forty-third years of the existence of the School for the Deaf and the thirty-ninth and fortieth years of the School for the Blind

The personnel of the board of directors remains the same as it was at the date of the last biennial report except that Hon. Geo. P. Flannery, of Mineapolis was succeeded in January 1906 by. Dr. J. W. DuBois, of Sauk Center. Dr. DuBois manifests a deep interest in the work of the schools and has proven to be a most faithful and efficient member.

The report of Superintendent J. N. Tate of the School for the Deaf and of Superintendent J. J. Dow of the School for the Blind for the biennial period covered by this report are full and complete and set forth clearly the history and work of the schools since the last report was published, and present the needs of the institutions for the coming two years.

This board has gone carefully over these reports with the superintendents, and with a thorough understanding of the needs of the schools, believe that the requests for appropriations for the expense of their maintenance and for new buildings, repairs and improvements are conservative, and we heartily approve the estimates and recommend the passage of appropriation bills to cover the same in full.

Respectfully submitted,

EDGAR H. LOYHED,

CHAS. D. McKELLIP, Secretary.

President.
