THE GOOD SHEPHERD.
God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. Since the world 32 began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes that was born blind. If this man were not of God, he 33 could do nothing. They answered and said unto him, 34 Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
Jesus heard that they had cast him out ; and when he 35 had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God ? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, 36 that I might believe on him ? And Jesus said unto him, 37 Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. 38
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, 39 that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. And some of the Pharisees which 40 were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also ? Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, 41 ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that I Temple. entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shep- 2 herd of the sheep.
To him the porter openeth ; and the 3 sheep hear his voice : and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth 4 his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they 5 not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: 6 but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say 7 unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
All that ever 8 came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door : by me if any man enter 9

THE FEAST OF DEDICATION. in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find 10 pasture.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, ll and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the
good shepherd : the good shepherd giveth his life for the 12 sheep But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd,
whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and
leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, 13 and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he 14 is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the
good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of 15 mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the 16 Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other
sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must
bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one 17 fold, and one shepherd. Therefore doth my Father love
me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I
have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of
Father. 19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for 20 these sayings.
And many of them said, He hath a devil, 21 and is mad; why hear ye him ? Others said, These are
not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open
of the blind ? *

JESUS DEPARTS FROM JERUSALEM.
109 plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed 25 not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not 26 of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my 27 voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give 28 unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of
hand. My Father, 29 which gave them
me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
I and my 30 Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to 31 stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have 32 I shewed you
Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
The Jews answered him, saying, For a good 33 work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered 34 them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods ? If 35 he called them gods unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken ; say ye of him, whom the 36 Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God ? If I do 37 not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, 38 though ye believe not me, believe the works : that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped 39 out of their hand,

the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, 3 whose brother Lazarus was sick.) Therefore his sisters
sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest 4 is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is
not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of 5 God might be glorified thereby. Now Jesus loved Martha, 6 and her sister, and Lazarus. When he had heard there
fore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same 7 place where he was. Then after that saith he to his 8 disciples, Let us go into Judæa again. His disciples say
unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; 9 and goest thou thither again ? Jesus answered, Are there
not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the
day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this 10 world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, ll because there is no light in him. These things said he:
and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus
sleepeth ; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. 13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that 14 he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus 15 unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for
your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; 16 nevertheless let us go unto him. Then said Thomas, which
is called Didymus, unto his fellow-disciples, Let us also go,
that we may die with him. 17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he 18 had lain in the grave four days already. Now Line from Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen Bethshan to
Bethany 19 furlongs off: and many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary to comfort them concerning their brother.

JESUS AT BETHANY.
111 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, 20 went and met him : but Mary sat still in the house. Then 21 said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, what- 22 soever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. Jesus 23 saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith 24 unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, 25 and the life: he that believeth
me, though were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me 26 shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, 27 Yea, Lord : I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. And when she 28 had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee. As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came 29 unto him.
Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, 30 but was in that place where Martha met him. The Jews 31 then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there. Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and 32 saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When 33 Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him ?
They 34 Bethany. said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus 35 wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him ! 36 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened 37 the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died ? Jesus therefore again groaning in himself, 38 cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the 39 sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus 40
