SEST. 9. AN ACT

To enable Thomas Laird, of the borough of Eric to perfect his title to out-lot number four hundred and twelve of the second section of the town of Erie.

WHEREAS it has been represented that out-lot number four hundred and twelve of the second section of the town

of Erie was sold by the commissioners of sales of the lots of said town, at the original sales of said lots, and purchased by John F. Jones: And whereas it is also represented that said lot was in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifteen by the commissioners of the county of Erie, sold to Thomas Laird, of the borough of Erie, and that said Laird has been in possession of said lot ever since: And whereas the title to said lot cannot be perfected by reason of a defect in the power of the commissioner of sales: Therefore,

SECT. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of

AN ACT

For the entire abolition of lotteries.

WHEREAS, by certain acts of Assembly heretofore enacted, the right to raise by way of lottery certain sums of money, was granted to the Union Canal company of Pennsylvania: And whereas, it appears to the Legislature that the said right has been fully exercised and exhausted: And whereas, all other rights to raise money by lottery, heretofore granted by the Legislature have either been exercised and exhausted, or have been abandoned, and it being the intention of the Legislature to put an entire stop to the evils arising from lotteries and the sale of lottery tickets.

SECT. 1. For the relief of Zachariah Closson, Jacob Booz, Henry Bloss and George Swetzer, soldiers, and Elizabeth Henry, widow of a soldier of the revolutionary war.

SECT. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General As sembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the $40 grat. and same, That the State Treasurer be and he is hereby auann. granted thorized and required to pay to George Swetzer, of York to G. Swetzer, J. Booz, and county, or to his order; Jacob Booz, of Montgomery county, or to his order; and Zachariah Closson, of Montgomery county, or to his order, the sum of forty dollars each immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to each, payable half yearly during life, to commence on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-three.
