SECT. 2. SECT. 3. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That so much of any act of Assembly, as is hereby altered or supplied, be and the same is hereby repealed.

AN ACT

Supplementary to an act entitled "An act to enable the Governor of this Commonwealth, to incorporate a company for making an artificial road, from the intersection of Front street and the Germantown road, in the Northern Liberties, of the city of Philadelphia, through Frankford and Bristol, to the ferry at Morrisville, on the river Delaware.

WHEREAS it has been agreed between the president, managers and company, of the Frankford and Bristol turnpike pike road, and the commissioners and the inhabitants of the Kensington district of the Northern Liberties, that the former shall cede and the latter accept and forever keep in repair, a portion of the said turnpike road: Therefore,

SECT. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre sentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after the passage of this act, the presi dent, managers and company of the Frankford and Bristol and Bristol turnpike road, shall cede to the commissioners and inhabitants of the Kensington district, in the Northern Liberties, cede a portion and their successors, all their right, title, interest, privileges of their road and jurisdiction, into and over so much of their said turnto district of pike road as is within the present limits of the said KenKensington. sington district, to be kept open as a public highway and

AN ACT

To incorporate the Philadelphia Society for alleviating the miseries of
Public Prisons.

SECT. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in Generat Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of Society incor- the same, That all and every the persons who shall at the time of the passing of this act, be members of the society called "The Philadelphia society for alleviating the iniseries of public prisons," shall be and they are hereby created and declared to be one body politic and corporate, by the name, style and title of "The Philadelphia society for alleviating the miseries of public prisons," and by the same name shall have perpetual succession, and shall be able to sue and be sued, implead and be impleaded in all courts of record of Privileges & elsewhere, and to take, receive, hold and enjoy, by purchase, grant, devise or bequest to them and their successors, lands, tenements, rents, annuities, franchises, hereditaments, goods and chattles of what nature, kind or quality soever, real, personal or mixed, or choses in action, and the same, from time to time, to 'sell, grant, devise, alien or dispose of: Provided, That the clear yearly value or income of the necesIncome limit- sary houses, lands and tenements, rents, annuities, or other ed to $5,000. hereditaments and real estate of the said corporation, and the interest of money by it lent, shall not exceed the sum of five thousand dollars; and also to make and have a common seal, and the same to break, alter and renew at pleasure;

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen tatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Richard Ashhurst and George Morris, and Certain lots their heirs respectively, be, and they are hereby confirmed in conveyed by the title of certain real estate, in the city of Philadelphia, America to consisting of parts and parcels of certain lots which were pur- T. Abbot and chased by the president, directors and company of the Bank H. Waters. of North America, at sheriff's sale, and which the said Bank, by deed dated the twelfth day of April, Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and ten, recorded in the office for recording of deeds, &c. for the city and county of Philadel phia, in deed book I. C. number seven, page three hundred and eighty-nine, conveyed to Timothy Abbot and Hanson Waters, in fee to the intent and so far forth, that the said title shall at no time hereafter be questioned by or on behalf, or in the name of this commonwealth, for or by reason of any defect or alleged defect of power in the said Bank of North America to purchase, hold or convey the said real estate; and that the said Richard Ashhurst and George Morris, and their heirs respectively, shall hold the said real estate, and may dispose of the same with the like effect as if the said Bank of
