PRODUCED IN ARKANSAS 1924 $50,013,3 83 70 PETROLEUM The total mineral production of Arkansas for 1924 is summed up in the following list. (The figures on petroleum, coal, diamonds, stone, gravel, sand and clay were obtained from the Severance Tax records, the other items were obtained from U. S. Geological Survey. LIST OF ARKANSAS MINERALS The following is a list of minerals alphabetically arranged that are known to occur in the State of Arkansas. Minerals that are of some commercial importance and those minerals that are conspicuous in appearance and attractive during an ordinary examination of a rock, have been listed. Many minerals that might be of purely scientific interest but are of rare occurrence and distinguished with difficulty by the naked eye have been omitted. Mineral determinations and compositions have been largely taken from lists in previous reports of the Arkansas Geological Survey and in some cases from U. S. Geological Survey publications. In many cases, the popular as well as the scientific terms have been listed. Modes of occurrence have been given in a very general way. Names of localities are given specifically where the mode of occurrence would seem to warrant, otherwise regional locations have been made. The objective is to submit a table that is intelligible to both geologists and the man not thoroughly versed in technical terms of the science. Where a mineral has seemed to warrant extended discussion in this report, a page reference to that discussion is given.
