Ayer's Pills. By the use of Ayer's Pills

alone I once cured myself permanently of a case of Rheumatism which had troubled me several months. No medicine could have served me in better stead. These Pills are at once harmless and effectual, and, I believe, would prove a specific in all cases of incipient Rheumatism. C. C. ROCK, Corner, Avoyelles Par., La., Jan. 20, 1887.

I certify that, for several years, I was troubled with dry Salt-rheum on the back of my neck. After taking two bottles of Ayer's Sarsaparilla, in connection with a free use of Ayer's Pills, I was completely cured. LOUISA KNAUT, Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Jan. 1, 1887.

Every one who uses Ayer's Pills speaks well of them, and recommends them to his neighbors. In fact, they do their work so well, and cure so speedily, they limit their own sale. C. HEMPSTEAD, Belize, Honduras.

I have used Ayer's Pills for the last thirty years, and can safely say that I have never found their equal as a cathartic medicine. I am never without them in my house. W. H. HANNAH, Gormley, Ontario (Dominion of Canada).

We have used Ayer's Pills many years, and think them a very safe and excellent family aperient. A. B. FOSTER, Children's Home, Westfield, Conn.

In my practice (chiefly among patients of my own sex), find Ayer's Pills a valuable aid in the treatment of Pimples and other eruptive disorders. Derangements of the stomach and bowels are as often the cause of cutaneous troubles as impurity of the blood. Ayer's Pills often do the work alone; sometimes I use your Sarsaparilla, also, as an alterative. MARY G. PARKHURST, M.D., Brooklyn, N. Y.

As a household remedy, for use in emergencies, especially where there are children, AYER'S PILLS are invaluable, and should be kept always on hand. Promptitude is of the greatest importance in dealing with the disorders which these PILLS are designed to relieve and cure. AYER'S PILLS are also exceedingly useful as a Spring medicine. Persons of bilious habit, and all requiring a stomachic stimulant, will find their digestion wonderfully improved and their health promoted by taking from 1 to 3 of AYER'S PILLS, daily, after dinner.

I have been in this country 8 years, and, during all this time, neither I nor any member of my family have used any other kind of medicine than Ayer's Pills. These we always keep at hand, and I should not know how to get along without them. ANDREW W. SODERBERG,

Lowell, Mass.

Ayer's Cathartic Pills have been the only medicine needed in my house for a number of years. My wife, who goes among the sick a great deal, has witnessed wonderful results, in cases of Rheumatism and Liver troubles, from the use of Ayer's Pills. WILLIAM W. Dow, Maine, Minn.

I have used Ayer's Cathartic Pills as a family. medicine for 35 years, and they have always given the utmost satisfaction. JAMES A. THORNTON, Bloomington, Ind.

Ayer's Pills have been used in my family for over thirty years. We find them an excellent medicine in fevers, eruptive diseases, and all bilious troubles, and seldom call a physician. They are almost the only Pills used in our neighborhood. REDMON COMLY, Row Landing, W. Feliciana Parish, La.

Ayer's Pills. applications to the feet and hips, when in bed, are serviceable, but care should be exercised not to resort to these expedients when there is reason to believe that the suppression is natural.

On the Frontier

AYER'S PILLS are in universal use, and are often of the greatest benefit. They are for sale at every Indian agency, military station, trader's camp, and mining settlement in the far West. If any emigrant has located where AYER'S PILLS are not to be found, let him write us, and we will supply him promptly by mail or otherwise.

From a noted pioneer :

I duly received the package of one dozen boxes of Ayer's Pills you mailed to me some time ago, and now inclose money to pay for two dozen boxes more, which please forward to same address. During the twenty-five years I have lived on the frontier, Ayer's Pills have been my best friend. I have lived mostly where I had no doctor within twenty miles, and I have been hard sick several times; but I always kept your medicines on hand, and with them and your Almanac have pulled through. I have also doctored others, and believe I have saved some valuable lives by the use of Ayer's Pills. JOHN MCDOWALL, Sweet Water, Col.

When it is Considered

That more than half the diseases which afflict mankind are due, directly or indirectly, to derangements of the digestive and assimilative organs, it will be understood that any full enumeration of them here is impossible. Such disorders may usually be entirely cured, in the beginning, by the use of AYER'S PILLS, which act directly on these organs, with a cleansing, stimulating, and curative effect. Experience has shown their power to cure all disorders of this class without any of the bad effects which follow the use of common purgatives.

Ayer's Pills are in general demand among our customers. Our sales of them exceed those of all other pills combined. We have never known them fail to give entire satisfaction. WRIGHT & HANNELLY, San Diego, Texas, Sept. 1, 1886.

Physicians Testify

To the excellence of the formula used in compounding AYER'S PILLS. That these PILLS are as good in actual use and practice as they are in theory, the following, among hundreds of medical certificates, will show :

After many years' experience with Ayer's Pills as a remedy for the large number of ailments caused by derangements of the liver, peculiar to malarial localities, simple justice prompts me to express to you my high appreciation of the merits of this medicine for the class of disorders I have named. S. L. LOUGHRIDGE, M.D., Bryan, Texas, Dec. 14, 1886.

Having prescribed many thousands of Ayer's Pills, in my practice, 1 can unhesitatingly pronounce them the best cathartic in use. Not only as a common purgative have I obtained excellent effects from them, but in those cases attended with a bilious aspect of the eyes and skin, indicating a derangement of the liver, I have found them wonderfully successful. T. P. MAYHEW, M. D., New Bedford, Mass.

Ayer's Pills are an excellent cathartic, especially admirable for their corrective action upon the liver. They furnish, to the profession, one of the best remedies for bilious derangements that we possess. WM. PRESCOTT, M. D., LL. D., Concord, N. H.

Some three years ago, by the merest accident, I was forced, so to speak, to prescribe Ayer's Cathartic Pills for several sick men among a party of engineers in the Sierra Nevada mountains, my medicine chest having been lost in crossing a mountain torrent. I was surprised and delighted at their action, so much so, indeed, that I was led to a further trial of them, as well as of your Cherry Pectoral and Sarsaparilla. I have nothing but praise to offer in respect to these remedies. J. ARRISON, M.D., San José, Cal.

Omitting for want of space several highly commendatory certificates from eminent chemists, and thousands of testimonials, professional and private, with which we have been favored, we have, nevertheless, produced abundant evidence to prove that AYER'S PILLS are superior to any other in all the uses for which a purgative is employed. Sure in operation, certain in remedial effect, and safe to administer, in home as well as professional practice, their value in the cure of a large class of diseases cannot be overestimated. The constantly increasing demand for them shows a growing appreciation of their virtues, and we shall spare neither pains nor cost in maintaining their quality at the highest point of excellence.

[graphic]
[ocr errors]

The doses of AYER'S PILLS, herein recommended, may be found too large in some cases and too small in others. Patients should, therefore, by trial, adjust the doses to their own requirements. We do not favor the inordinate use of any medicine, and it is as important to use a good remedy judiciously as it is, in selecting a medicine, to obtain the best. Our directions, as given, are approximately correct but are subject to the modifications demanded by circumstances and constitutional peculiarities.

Not a particle of calomel nor any other deleterious substance enters into the composition of these PILLS.

AYER'S PILLS are usually put up in oval wooden boxes; but for hot and damp climates, and for export, in sealed glass vials, as above represented. They are for sale by Druggists and Dealers in Medicines throughout the world.
