PREFACE.

ally the general and essential principles of the Common School studies. The object is to facilitate the means of reviews, and if, through the publication of this work, teachers are induced to direct the attention of their scholars to questions promiscuously, then much good will be accomplished. The answers which are given are formed of few words, but the intention was to make them clear and concise, and as it is to be used in connection with text books, reference should be made when the teacher or pupil does not fully understand the whole meaning. Errors may be found, and the author will consider it a great favor to be informed of them, that the correction may be made.
