SPECIFICATIONS FURNISHED FOR CROSSING OF RAILROADS BY NEW HIGHWAYS.

ORDERS WITH REFERENCE TO CROSSINGS OF RAILROADS WITH RAILROADS.

January 17. Record 133-Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company to temporarily for a period of three months from date of the order operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company at Francis street in the city of Jackson, to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

February 6. Record 134-On application of the Trans-St. Mary's Traction company, the crossing of its proposed line with the "Y" track of the St. Marie Union Depot company on Easterday avenue in the city of Sault Ste. Marie, Chippewa county, was approved, a swing gate to be provided with red light and placed across the tracks of the Trans-St. Mary's Traction company, for the protection of the public.

April 8. Record 137-On application of the Mineral Range Railroad company, its crossing of the tracks of the Houghton County Street Rail

way company by its proposed spur track leading to the Hancock Consolidated Mining company's shaft No. 2, was approved, such crossing to be made by means of a subway and in accordance with plans to be approved by the Commissioner of Railroads.

April 8. Record 139-On application of the Mineral Range Railway company its crossing of the tracks of the Houghton County Street Railway company by its proposed spur track leading to the Hancock Consolidated Mining company's shaft No. 1, on Railroad avenue was approved, the crossing to be at grade, a derailing and signaling appliance to be provided in accordance with plans to be approved by the Commissioner of Railroads.

April 9. Record 141-On application of Charles L. Houseman, the crossing of his proposed private line of railroad with the tracks of the Minneapolis, St. Paul & Sault Ste. Marie Railway company at a point known as the old Naubinway Junction was approved, it being provided that a derailing and signaling appliance should be provided at the said crossing, to be constructed in accordance with plans to be approved by the Commissioner of Railroads.

April 17. Record 145--Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company to temporarily for a period of 60 days from date of the order to operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company at Francis street in the city of Jackson, to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

June 13. Record 163-It being called to the attention of the department that the protection provided at the crossing of the tracks of the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railway company with the tracks of the Grand Rapids, Kalkaska & Southeastern Railroad company, at Kalkaska, Kalkaska county, was unsatisfactory and inadequate, it was ordered that the said companies construct at that point a full interlocking and derailing switch and signal system, in accordance with plans to be submitted to and approved by the Commissioner of Railroads.

June 17. Record 169-Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company until August 1, 1907, to operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railroad company at Francis street in the city of Jackson, to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks, in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

June 26. Record 200-Application having been duly filed with the Commissioner of Railroads by the Chicago & Kalamazoo Terminal Railroad company for approval of proposed crossing of the tracks of the said company and the Michigan United Railways company, in the city of Kalamazoo, and statutory notice having been given, a hearing was held at which all interested parties were represented. A personal inspection of the premises was made and the crossing was approved June 26, 1907, same to be by means of an undergrade crossing with a clearance

of 21 feet, the expense of said crossing to be borne solely by the applicant.

August 7. Record 187-Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company until August 15, 1907, to operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company at Francis street in the city of Jackson, to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks, in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

August 15. Record 178-Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company until August 24, 1907, to operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company at Francis street in the city of Jackson, to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks, in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

August 24. Record 182-Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company until September 15, 1907, to operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company at Francis street in the city of Jackson to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks, in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

September 15. Record 196-Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company until September 28, 1907, to operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company at Francis street in the city of Jackson to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks, in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

September 28. Record 202-Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company until October 25, 1907, to operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company at Francis street in the city of Jackson to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks, in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

October 25. Record 21-Order was issued allowing the Jackson Consolidated Traction company until November 25, 1907, to operate its cars over the temporary grade crossing of its tracks with the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad company and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company at Francis street in the city of Jackson to allow additional time for construction of an overhead bridge crossing of said tracks, in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads of January 30, 1901.

November 18. Record 35-The attention of the department having

been called to the fact that the protection afforded to the main line of the Pere Marquette Railroad company inside of the derail limits north of the crossing of the Pere Marquette and Michigan Central Railroads at what is known as the Woodside Avenue crossing, Bay City, Bay county, was unsatisfactory and inadequate for the present requirements of the traffic, it was ordered that the derails on the Main line and two side tracks shall be operated by separate levers, each derail to be properly signaled and so arranged that conflicting routes cannot be given.

December 3. Record 47-On application from the Detroit, Jackson & Chicago Railway company, its maps showing proposed new crossing of the tracks of said railroad company with the tracks of the Jackson Consolidated Traction company at Grass Lake, in the county of Jackson, was approved, it appearing that the proposed change was desirable for the public safety.

December 27. Record 71-On application from the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railway company, plans submitted for construction of an interlocking and derailing switch and signal system at Kalkaska were approved.

January 7. Record 77-Application having been received from the Lansing & Suburban Traction company for approval of proposed interlocking appliance to be installed at the crossing of its line and the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern at Washington Avenue, Lansing, in accordance with the order of the Commissioner of Railroads under date of July 20, 1905, said plans were approved, it being ordered that such device upon construction, should be subject to the approval of the Commission.

January 7. Record 78-On application from the Lansing & Suburban Traction company for determination as to mechanical safety device to be installed at said crossing in accordance with order of the Commissioner of Railroads under date of July 20, 1905, and for an order to permit temporary use of said crossing pending the installation of said device, it was ordered that a half interlocking and derailing switch and signal system with derailers on the electric line and signals on the line of the Grand Trunk Western be installed, said appliance to be constructed in accordance with plans to be approved by the Commission. The gates now installed at said crossing to be operated from the tower in connection with said interlocker. Temporary use of said crossing to be allowed the said Traction company pending installation of said interlocking device to not later than May, 1908, on the condition that a flagman be stationed at said crossing.

Application having been received in 1904 from the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railway company for a full interlocking and derailing switch and signal system to replace the half interlocking derailing switch and signal system in operation at the crossing of the tracks of the Boyne City, Gaylord and Alpena Railroad with the tracks of the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railway at a point about one-half mile north of Boyne Falls, Charlevoix county, and the matter still pending, same has had careful attention during this year. It appearing that the crossing of the tracks of the Boyne City, Gaylord & Alpena Railroad and of the tracks of the private railroad of Cobbs & Mitchell, incorporated, known as the Boyne Falls & Northeastern Railroad, should be considered in connection with
