OR, A Discourse of things necessary to be Known, Believed and Practised in

order to Salvation.

Wo things are mainly necessary to Salvacion,

Right Knowledge.

Right Practice. The chief things to be known and Believed are,

- God, Concerning Mani.

The Mediator between God and Man.

Concerning Man three things :
1. The happy Condition in which he was made.
2. His Fall.
3. The way of his Recovery by Christ.
Concerning the Mediator between God and

Man, eaven things:
1. What manner of Person he was.
2. How he came into the World.
3. How he lived here.
4. How he died.
5. What became of him after his Death.

6. What was the end and intent of his coming into the World.

7. What they are effectually called unto, and through the asistance of the Spirit of God enabled to perform, who shall receive Remißion of sins by Christ

CHAP. I.

Concerning God.

Concerning God we are to know three

I. His Nature.
2. His Properties or Attributes.
3. His Workes.

First,

That there is one Onely true God, who is a
Spiric infinitely Glorious; and being One in
Nature is yet Three in Persons or Sublistences ;
The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost.
These are Three and One after a wonderfull and
mysterious manner. The Father God, The Son
God, And the Holy Ghost God, and yet hoc
three Gods, but one God.
Secondly, His Properties or Attributes.
Eternal, or without any Beginning or

End.
God is Omnipotent, or Almighty.

Omnipresent, or every where present,
Omniscient, or All-knowing.

Wise.

SHoly. Infinitely

Just.

Mercifull) Thirdly, His Works which are principally

very good.

Angels, 2. The chief of his Creatures are

Mea. 3. All the Angels were at firft made holy and happy Spirics : Some continued in their obedience to God, and are still Angels of Lights Others fell from God through Pride, or some other sin, and are become Devils of Darknes.

Concerning the Creation of Man, see farther in the next Chapter.

II. Providence.

As God Created the World, and all the Creatures therein by his Almighty Power, So he upholds, directs, disposes, and governs them all by his Providence. Nothing To Casual, but he diíposes of ic; No Agent so free,as to be exempted from his Controule; No affliction or Evil of Punishment, but he hach a hand in it; But as for sin, he neither is, nor poffibly can be the Auchor, or Approver of is.
