AN ORDINANCE for establishing Courts of Civil Judicature in the Province of Quebec. [Repealed by Prov. Stat. 34, Geo. III. Cap. 6th, Sec. 38.] CA P. II. AN ORDINANCE to regulate the proceedings in the Courts of Civil Judicature in the Province of Quebec. [Expired.] CA P. III. Vide Prov. AN ORDINANCE for ascertaining damages on protested Bills of Exchange, and fixing the rate of interest in the Province of Quebec. III. c. 2d. on Europe or › dies returning protested. T is Enacted and Ordained by His Excellency the Captain-General and Governor in Chief of this Province, by and with the advice and consent of the Bills drawn Legislative Council of the same, that all Bills of Exchange drawn by persons the West In- residing within this Province, upon persons in Europe, or the West-Indies, that may, after the publication hereof, return under protest; and all Bills of Exchange hereafter to be drawn, by persons residing here, on persons in Europe, or the West-Indies, and returning protested; shall be subject to ten per cent damages, and six per cent per annum interest, upon the principal sum furnished here, from the day of the date of the protest, to the time of payment; which said principal sum shall be reimbursed to the holder of the Bill at the par of Exchange, that is to say, at the rate of one hundred and eleven pounds and one ninth currency, for every one hundred pounds sterling. Subject to 10 per cent dam ages and inter est. Bills drawn on the contiprotested. II. All Bills of Exchange drawn by persons residing within this Province, on on any colony persons in any of the Colonies on the Continent of America, that shall, after the nent returning publication hereof, return under protest; and all Bills of Exchange hereafter to be drawn here, on persons residing in the said Colonies, and returning protestSubject to 4 ed; shall be subject to four per cent damages, and six per cent per annum inteages and inter- rest, upon the principal sun furnished here, from the day of the date of the protest, to the time of payment. per cent dam est. C. 2d. ou les Indes revenantes à TL est Statué et Ordonné par Son Excellence le Capitaine-Général et Gouverneur en Chef de cette Province, de l'avis et consentement du Conseil Légis- Lettres de latif d'icelle ce qui suit, que toutes lettres de change tirées par des particuliers change tirées demeurans en cette Province, sur d'autres particuliers en Europe ou dans les sur Europe Indes Occidentales qui, après la publication de cette Ordonnance, reviendront Occidentales protestées, ainsi que celles tirées à l'avenir par des particuliers demeurans ici sur protêt. d'autres en Europe ou dans les Indes Occidentales qui reviendront protestées, seront sujettes à dix pour cent de dommages, et six pour cent d'intérêt par an, sur pour cent de la somme totale qui aura été comptée ici, du jour de la date du protet, jusqu'au dommages et jour du payement; laquelle dite somme sera remboursée au porteur de la lettre avec le change, sur le pied de cent onze livres un neuvième courant de cette Province, pour chaque cent livres sterling. II. Toutes Lettres de change tirées par des particuliers demeurans en cette Province, sur d'autres particuliers dans toutes les Colonies du Continent en Amérique qui, après la publication de cette Ordonnance reviendront protestées, ainsi que celles tirées ici à l'avenir, sur des particuliers des dites Colonies qui reviendront protestées, seront sujettes à quatre pour cent de dommages, et à six pour cent d'intérêt par an, sur la somme totale qui aura été comptée ici, du jour de la date du protêt, jusqu'au jour du payement.
