Upon application of Capt. Falconer for some arms & ammunition for the use of the pilot Boat station'd at Bombay Hook, By order of the Board, Robert Towers, Commissary, was directed to deliver 5 Muskets, 10 Rounds of Powder & Ball, & 8 Swivel shot.

Upon application of Matthias Keeler, for some money towards the payment of Firelocks making by him for the use of this Province, By order of the Board, an order was drawn in his favour for Fifty pounds.

Robert Towers, Commissary, was directed to deliver Matthias Keeler 56 Musket Ball, for proving Firelocks making by him for the use of this Province.

Resolved, That the officers of the armed Boats be instructed not to suffer any Pilot Boat or Pilot (except those employed by this Committee, to navigate from Chester to this City) to pass down the River, below the Chevaux de Frize, without producing a permit in writing from this Board or the Commodore.

The Canon Committee drew an order on Jno. Nixon & others, the Committee of accounts, in favour of Mr. Old, for £100.

Resolved, That Capt. Rice & Mr. A. Donaldson, be desired immediately to construct two Chevaux de Frize, for the purpose of stoping the passage between the Chevaux de Frize now sunk, and that they be made in such form that they may float, when proper loaded for sinking.

Resolved, That Capt. Jno. Hazlewood be impowered to nominate some discreet and judicious person to assist some other person to be

appointed by the Capt. of Mr. Vernon's Brig't, to appraise & Value the said Brig, & the Committee of Fire Rafts are hereby authorized to take the said Vessel at the Valuation of the said appraisers, & to fit her for a fire Vessel, for the defence of our River.

Upon application of Colo. Roberdeau, for a quantity of shot for the use of two privateers fitting out of this Port, By order of the Board, Robert Towers, Commiss'y, was directed to deliver Mr. Philip Moore three hundred pounds of different sized shot, taking a Receipt for the same.

Resolved, that Charles Lawrence be appointed Captain to one tier of Fire Rafts.

Resolved, That John McFatridge be appointed Second Lieutenant to the floating Battery.

Resolved, That the Officers & Non-Commission'd Officers on board the floating Battery, have the same Wages with those of the same rank on Board the Provincial Ship of War.

Resolved, That Mr. Howell & Mr. Wharton be a Committee to settle all accounts of Arms purchased by the Captains of the Comp'ys of Associators of the different battalions of this Province, agreeable to a Resolve of this Board of the 23rd January last.

Upon application of Geo. Taylor, Esq'r., for a quarter cask of Powder for the use of the Commiss'rs & Assessors of Northamp

ton County, to prove the Firelocks making for the use of this Province,

By order of the Board, Rob't. Towers, Commiss'y, was directed to deliver a quarter Cask for that purpose.

In consequence of an order drawn by Isaac Levan, Jr., one of Persons appt'd by the Committee of Berks to purchase arms for the use of the Province, for nineteen pounds twelve shillings, in favour of Doct'r Potts, for 9 Muskets, it appearing that they are Provin'l arms, & that the above is the price of repairing,

By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Jno. Nixon & others, the Committee of accounts, for said sum of £19 12, and the arms are order'd to be deliver'd to Capt. Herbert of Berks County, who is in the service of this Province.

By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Jno. Nixon & others, the Committee of accounts, in favour of William Forbes, for the use of Henry Fisher, of Lewes Town, for sixty pounds.

The following order of Assembly was this day deliver'd at the Board, by Mr. Parker:

"Upon Motion,

"In Assembly, April 6th, 1776.

"Order'd, That Mr. Hillegas, Mr. Parker & Mr. Rittenhouse, be added to the Committee of Safety."

Upon application of Mr. James Wallace for a sum of Money for the payment of Firelocks purchased in Bucks County, by order of this Board, for account of Congress, & for some Powder & Ball for proving the same,

By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Mr. Jno. Nixon, James Mease & Tho's Wharton, for one hundred pounds, & an order to Robert Towers for fifty Ball, with directions to Mr. Wallace to use the powder in his possession, which he rec'd for the payment of Salt-Petre, keeping an account of the quantity he may use for that purpose.

The following Resolves of Assembly was this day deliver'd to the Board by Colo. Miles.

"Upon Motion,

"In Assembly, April 6th, 1776.

"Resolved, That an Agent be appointed to provide necessary cloathing & accoutrements at Prime Cost, for the Troops ordered to be raised for the service of this Province, the Expence to be deducted out of the pay of such Troops; that such agent be allowed two and a half per cent. for his Trouble, and that he make no other Profit or Emolument whatever, by Contracts with the Tradesmen he may employ, or in any other manner.

"Resolved, That Matthias Slough, of Lancaster, Esq'r, be, and he is hereby appointed Agent for the purpose aforesaid.

"Resolved, That the Committee of Safety may draw orders on Michael Hillegas, Esq'r, Treasurer, in favour of the said Matthias Slough, for such sums of Money as they, from time to time, shall Judge necessary.

"Extract from the Journals.

"Sign'd CHAS. MOORE, Cl'k of assembly."

Upon application of Matthias Slough, Esq'r, for a sum of Money for the payment of Cloathing & accoutrements for the Troops to be raised for the service of this Province, By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Michael Hillegas, in favour of said Slough, for three thousand pounds, for the purposes aforesaid.

Upon application of Colo. Miles for a sum of Money for the use of Colo. S'i Atlee, for the recruiting service of this Province, By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Michael Hillegas, Esq'r, in favour of said Atlee, for five hundred pounds.

The assembly having recommended to this Board to appoint a proper person Marshall to the Court of Admiralty for this Province, the Board having considered the application of the different Candidates, Do Resolve, That Mr. Matthew Clarkson be, and he is hereby appointed Marshall to the Court of Admiralty for this Province.

Mr. Peter De Haven was this day desired by Letter to apply to Mr. Frailey, of Germantown, to purchase the arms in his possession that are or can be made fit for the service of this Province.

Mr. Towers, Commissary, was directed to apply to Adam Foulke to view and purchase the arms he bought of Andreas Stall, provided they are fit for the service of this Province; & also, to inspect & take an account of all other fire arms in possession of said Foulke, and make report of the Number & quality to this Board.

Upon application of Joseph Fox, Esq'r, one of the Commissioners of this County, for a sum of Money for the use of the Commiss'rs & Assess'rs, for the payment of Knapsack, Firelocks, &ca., made for the use of this Province, By order of the Board, an order was drawn in favour of said Fox, on Mich'l Hillegas, Esq'r, for one thousand pounds, for the use aforesaid.

By order of the Board, an order was drawn on Michael Hillegas, Esq'r, in favour of John Nixon, James Mease, & Thomas Wharton, Jun'r, the Committee of accounts, for Ten thousand pounds.

Resolved, That Mr. David Rittenhouse be added to the Canon Committee of this Board, in order to assist in carrying into execution the different Resolves of this Committee respecting the procuring and casting Canon for the use of this Province.

Mr. Nixon having occasion to leave the Board, Mr. James Mease was chose Chairman.

Letters was wrote this day & signed by Mr. Mease, to the Committees of Lancaster, & Berks counties, requesting they would furnish Capt. Ab'm Dahauff & Capt. Thomas Herbert, with Firelocks, Bayonets and accoutrements, out of those made by virtue of a Resolve of assembly in June last, being for the use of their Companies in the service of this Province.

Upon application of John Cabourn for a sum of money towards the payment of Men employed in sinking the Chevaux de Frize, By order of the Board an order was drawn on Jno. Nixon & others, the Committee of accounts, in his favour, for two hundred pounds. The Congress sent the following Resolve to this Board, which is order'd to be enter'd on the Minutes of this Committee:
