CHAPTER CCCXLIX.

AN ACT to set off certain Lands from Mount Vernon to Readfield.

BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in Legislature assembled, That such parts of lots of land, numbered two hundred and thirty; two hundred and twenty-nine; two hundred and twenty-eight; two hundred and twenty-seven; two hundred and twenty-six, and two hundred and twenty five, as are within the limits of the town of Mount Vernon, be, and the same hereby are set off from said Mount Vernon, and annexed to the town of Readfield: Provided, That the persons owning. such lots of land, shall be severally holden to pay all taxes assessed against them respectively, on said lands, in the town of Mount Vernon, prior to the passing of this act.

SECT. 1. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in Legislature assembled, That Abisha Benson, Robert H. Carey, Robert Fletcher, Japheth C.Washburn, Alfred Marshall, and Randall Fish, with their associates and successors, be, and they hereby are incorporated into a body politic,by the name of Central Lodge; with power to sue and be sued; to have a common seal and to change Powers and privileges. the same; to make any by-laws for the management of their affairs, not repugnant to the laws of this State, nor to ancient masonic usages; to take

SECT. 3. Be it further enacted, That the powers granted by this act, may be enlarged, restrained or repealed, at the pleasure of the Legislature.
