AN ACT to set off certain Lands from Mount Vernon to Readfield. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in Legislature assembled, That such parts of lots of land, numbered two hundred and thirty; two hundred and twenty-nine; two hundred and twenty-eight; two hundred and twenty-seven; two hundred and twenty-six, and two hundred and twenty five, as are within the limits of the town of Mount Vernon, be, and the same hereby are set off from said Mount Vernon, and annexed to the town of Readfield: Provided, That the persons owning. such lots of land, shall be severally holden to pay all taxes assessed against them respectively, on said lands, in the town of Mount Vernon, prior to the passing of this act. [This Act passed February 25, 1825.] CHAPTER CCCL. AN ACT to incorporate Central Lodge. Persons incor porated. SECT. 1. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in Legislature assembled, That Abisha Benson, Robert H. Carey, Robert Fletcher, Japheth C.Washburn, Alfred Marshall, and Randall Fish, with their associates and successors, be, and they hereby are incorporated into a body politic,by the name of Central Lodge; with power to sue and be sued; to have a common seal and to change Powers and privileges. the same; to make any by-laws for the management of their affairs, not repugnant to the laws of this State, nor to ancient masonic usages; to take tate, &c. May hold es- and hold for charitable and benevolent uses, any real estate to the value of three thousand dollars, and any personal estate to the value of five thousand dollars; and to give and grant, or bargain and sell the same; and with all the privileges usually granted to other societies instituted for purposes of charity and beneficence. First meeting how called. SECT. 2. Be it further enacted, That the first meeting of said.corporation, shall be holden at such by whom and time and place, and be notified in such manner, as the majority of persons herein named may direct. SECT. 3. Be it further enacted, That the powers granted by this act, may be enlarged, restrained or repealed, at the pleasure of the Legislature. Powers may be altered.
