CHAPTER CCCXXVI.

AN ACT to set off certain tracts of land and certain persons with their estates from the town of Shapleigh, and to annex the same to the town of Lebanon.

BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in Legislature assembled, That the several tracts of land, lying within the limits and being a part of the town of Shapleigh, in the county of York, known by the names following, viz. Baker's grant, Waldron's grant, Hamilton's grant, Andros' lot, Eleazer Knox's lot, and Horsom's gore, together with all the inhabitants living on said tracts of land, with their polls, and estates therein, be, and the same hereby are set off from the town of Shapleigh, and annexed to the town of Lebanon, in the county aforesaid Provided, That said tracts of land, and said inhabitants, shall be holden to pay all taxes assessed thereon, or against them, in the said town of Shapleigh, prior to the passing of this act.

CHAPTER CCCXXVII.

AN ACT to incorporate the Proprietors of the Mill Dam Bridge. SECT. 1. BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in Legislature assembled, That Jonathan Tucker, Isaac Sturdivant, Charles Q. Knight and Nathaniel Blanchard, with their associ ates and successors, be, and they hereby are, created a body corporate, by the name of the Proprietors of the Mill Dam Bridge; with power to erect and maintain a bridge across Back Cove, so called, to the Powers and westward of the present Back Cove bridge, from a point on said Back Cove, on the Portland side of the same, which is north of the termination of Mayo street, on said Cove, to the nearest convenient point on the opposite side of said Cove, and to purchase and hold such estate, real and personal, as may be necessary to carry the aforesaid object into complete effect; and with all other powers usually granted or incident to similar corporations: Provided, however, That said bridge, as soon as the same shall be finished and completed, shall be free of all toll to all travellers, carts, horses, waggons and carriages, of every description, and by whatever beast or beasts the same may be drawn.

BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives, in Legislature assembled, That Isaac Sturdivant, Ephraim Sturdivant, Thomas Persons incor-Brown, George Willis, George Turner, Joshua Mer- porated. rill, Ephraim Merrill, Simeon Skillings, Philip Greeley, Seward Merrill and Charles Merrill, with their associates and successors, be, and they are hereby created a body corporate, by the name of the Proprietors of Martin's Point Bridge; with power to erect and maintain a bridge across the Presumpscot river, at its mouth, from a place known and called by the name of Martin's Point, on the westerly side of said river, to a place called Merrill's point, on the casterly side thereof, and to the nearest convenient part of said Merrill's point; and to purchase and hold such estate, real and personal, as may be necessary to carry the aforesaid object into complete effect; and with all other powers usually granted, or incident, to similar corporations.
