CHAPTER 151.

An Act to Amend Chapter 123, Acts of 1922, entitled, "An Act to Incorporate the Maritime Life Assurance Company."

(Passed the 17th day of April, A. D., 1923).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 3 of Chapter 123 of the Acts of the Section 3, Legislature of Nova Scotia for the year 1922, entitled, "An Act to Incorporate the Maritime Life Assurance Company," is hereby amended by substituting $1,000000.00 in place of $300,000.00, and by substituting $1,500,000.00 in place of $500,000.00.

2. The said Act is further amended by adding Sections added. thereto the following sections:—

9. Chapter 28 of the Acts of the Parliament of Ch. 28, Acts Canada for the year 1922, entitled, "An Act to Amend Ch. 29 Acts the Insurance Act, 1917," shall apply to this Company, applicable. and any amendments to Chapter 29 of the Acts of the Parliament of Canada for the year 1917, hereafter passed by the Parliament of Canada, shall also apply to this Company.

10. Notwithstanding anything in this Act, or Treasurer and in said Chapter 29 of the Acts of the Parliament of ector may be Canada for the year 1917, or amendments thereto, paid and eligicontained, the Treasurer and Medical Director may be paid officers of the Company, and may be eligible for election to the Board of Directors.

CHAPTER 152.

An Act to Amend Section 4, Chapter 107, Acts of 1921, “An Act Respecting the Middleton Soldiers' Memorial Hospital."

(Passed the 6th day of April, A. D., 1923).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 4 of Chapter 107 of the Acts of 1921 is amended by inserting immediately after sub-section (b) the following sub-section:

(c) one member to be appointed by the Governor-in-Council.

And by adding at the end of said Sub-section 4 the following clause:-"With the exception of the member appointed by the Governor-in-Council, who shall hold office during the pleasure of the Governorin-Council."

CHAPTER 153.

An Act to Amend Chapter 168, Acts of 1886 entitled, "An Act to Incorporate the Plymouth Cemetery Company."

(Passed the 6th day of April, A. D., 1923).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Chapter 168 of the Acts of 1886 entitled, "An Act to Incorporate the Plymouth Cemetery Company," is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

19. (1) The corporation is hereby authorized and May receive empowered to receive, take, hold, manage and enjoy nd personal any real or personal property which has been, or ated, bequeathmay hereafter from time to time be, conveyed, given, donated, devised or bequeathed to the said Corporation, in trust or otherwise, for enlarging, preserving, improving or embellishing the said cemetery, or any part thereof, or any lot or lots therein, in accordance with the conditions or provisions contained in any deed of trust, conveyance, gift, devise, bequest or donation made or given to the said Corporation.

CHAPTER 154.

An Act to Amend Chapter 108, Acts of 1915, entitled, "An Act Respecting Rosebank Park."

(Passed the 17th day of April, A. D., 1928).

WHEREAS by Sub-section (f) of Section 1 of Chapter 108, Acts of 1915, entitled, "An Act respecting Rosebank Park," it was enacted that no sub-division of any of the lots shown on the Manning Plan as revised by McKenzie, Pickings & McCallum shall be made;

And Whereas, it was provided by Section 2 of said Chapter 108 that the provisions contained in Section 1 of said Chapter should only be altered by an Amendment to said Act, and with the consent in writing of at least seventy-five (75) per cent in number of the owners of the lots shown on the Manning Plan at the time the said amendment is requested;

And Whereas, George B. Hillis of the City of Halifax, Merchant, has purchased lots 9 and 10 of Section "A" of said plan;

And Whereas, by said plan the houses to be built on said lots were required to front on Norwood Street;

And Whereas, since the filing of the said Manning Plan the Canadian National Railway has been built adjacent to the said lots, thereby making it undesirable for the buildings on said lots to front on said Norwood Street;

And Whereas, the said George B. Hillis has obtained the consent of more than seventy-five (75) per cent in number of the owners of the lots on said Manning Plan, as required by said Act, to sub-divide said lots 9 and 10 so that part of lot 9 shall become part of lot 10, and that part of lot 10 shall become part of lot 9, whereby the owners of said lots 9 and 10 will be enabled to build houses fronting on Bloomingdale Street;

Be it therefore enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. The said George B. Hillis is authorized to divide G. B. Hillis the lands comprised in said lots 9 and 10 into two lands. lots fronting on Bloomingdale Street, the division line between such two new lots to run from Bloomingdale Street to the western boundary of said lot 9 on said Manning Plan.

2. The provisions of said Chapter 108 of the Acts Chapter 108, of 1915 shall apply to the said two new lots in the applies to new same manner and to the same extent as if the same had been designated on the Manning Plan as defined in said Chapter 108

3. A copy of this Act, certified under the hand of the Clerk of the House of Assembly, shall be recorded in the office of the Registrar of Deeds for the County of Halifax, and this Act shall not be effective until so registered.

CHAPTER 155.

An Act to Amend Chapter 167, Acts 1910, "The
Salvation Army Property Act."

(Passed the 23rd day of April, A. D., 1923).

WHEREAS, by Chapter 167 of the Acts of the Legislature passed in the year 1910, and subject to the provisions thereof, all the property, real and personal, within the Province of Nova Scotia then belonging to or held by the Commissioner of the Salvation Army in Canada, or any officer or member of the Salvation Army or by any person in trust for the purposes and benefit of or to the use of the said The Salvation Army or any corps, branch, hospital or institution, was vested in "the Governing Council of the Salvation Army in Canada," a body corporate incorporated by the Parliament of Canada (8 and 9 Edward the Seventh, Chapter 132), 1909;

And Whereas by Chapter 63 of the Acts of the Parliament of Canada (6 and 7 George the Fifth) 1916, the name of said Corporation was changed to "The Governing Council of the Salvation Army, Canada, East;"
