set out, it shall not be necessary to convene any further meeting of the said ratepayers, either under the provisions of the Towns' Incorporation Act, or otherwise, as a condition precedent to the borrowing hereby authorized, or the issuing of debentures therefor, or the doing of anything else hereby authorized.

CHAPTER 99.

An Act to Enable the Town of Sydney Mines to
Borrow Money for Street Purposes.

(Passed the 23rd day of April, A. D., 1923).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:-

1.

The Town of Sydney Mines is hereby authorized Authority to to borrow or raise by way of loan on the credit of the town the sum of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) for street purposes.

2. Where any money is borrowed by the issue or Sinking fund. sale of debentures of the said town under this Act, and the Municipal Debentures Act, 1914, as amended, the Council of the said town shall provide for a sinking fund with respect to such debentures. The amount to be paid annually into the sinking fund shall not be less than three per centum of the aggregate amount of said debentures, and shall not be more than the Council deems sufficient to provide for the payment of the debentures, when the same are payable, and the first payment into such sinking fund shall be made within one year from the date of the debentures.

3. Every sum required for

(a) interest on such debentures;

(b) the sinking fund so provided,

shall be held to be sums required for the ordinary lawful purposes of the town, and shall be raised, levied and collected in the same manner and in all respects as other sums required for the ordinary purposes of the town are raised, levied and collected.

4. Such debentures shall be payable in twenty years from the date thereof, and shall bear interest at a rate not exceeding six per centum per annum.

5. This Act shall not take effect until the same is adopted by resolution passed by a meeting of the ratepayers of the town duly convened in accordance with the provisions of Sections 143 and 144 of the Towns' Incorporation Act.

6. A certificate under the hand of the Mayor and Town Clerk, and under the corporate seal of the Town of Sydney Mines, of a resolution passed under Sections 143 and 144 of the Towns' Incorporation Act, shall be conclusive evidence of the adoption of this Act, and of the passing of the said resolution

CHAPTER 100.

An Act to Amend Chapter 136, Acts of 1920,
entitled, "An Act to Enable the Town of
Sydney Mines to Borrow Money
for School Purposes.

(Passed the 23rd day of April, A. D., 1923).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 1 of Chapter 136 of the Acts of the Legislature for the year 1920 is hereby amended by striking out the word "seventy-five" in the fourth line thereof, and substituting therefor the word "eighty-five".

2.

Inasmuch as the borrowing of the additional ten thousand dollars, hereby authorized, has already been sanctioned by a meeting of the ratepayers of Sydney Mines duly convened under the provisions of the Towns' Incorporation Act, it shall not be necessary to hold or convene any further or other meeting of the ratepayers as a condition precedent to the borrowing of said sum for the purposes expressed in the Act hereby amended.

(Passed the 23rd day of April, A. D., 1923).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows:

1. Section 8 of Chapter 136 of the Acts of 1912 is hereby repealed.

Provided this Act shall have no effect whatever unless and until proclaimed to be law by the Governorin-Council upon application for such proclamation by the Nova Scotia Power Commission.

CHAPTER 103.

An Act to Amend Chapter 83, Acts of 1922, entitled, "An Act to Enable the Town of Trenton

to Borrow Money."

(Passed the 23rd day of April A. D., 1923).

Be it enacted by the Governor, Council, and Assembly, as follows

1. Section 1 of Chapter 83 of the Acts of 1922 is amended by striking out the words:—

(b) $5000 for sewer purposes,

and by substituting therefor the following sub-sections:

(b) $2500 for sewer purposes;

(c) $2500 for the purpose of extending and improving the water works system of the town.

CHAPTER 104.

An Act to Authorize Town of Truro to Borrow

Money.

(Passed the 23rd day of April, A. D., 1923).
