Ordered, That the said Report be again committed to a Committee of the Whole House

The Order of the Day being read for the consideration of the amendments proposed by the Select Committee to the Bill, intituled "An Act to facilitate the winding up of the "affairs of Commercial Companies unable to meet their pecuniary engagements,"

On motion of the Honorable Mr. Alexander, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Harmaunus Smith, it was

Ordered, That the said amendments be committed to a Committee of the Whole House presently.

The House was then, according to Order, adjourned during pleasure, and put into a Committee on the said amendments.

After some time, the House was resumed.

On motion of the Honorable Mr. Morris, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Moore, it was Ordered, That when the House adjourns this day it do stand adjourned until half-past seven of the clock, this evening.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill, intituled "An Act to amend the Lower Canada Game Act," to which they desire the concur renoe of this House.

The said Bill was read for the first time.

On motion of the Honorable Mr. Moore, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Wilson, it was Ordered, That the said Bill be read a second time to-morrow.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill, intituled "An Act to amend Chapter Ninety-five of the Consolidated Statutes of Canada, "intituled 'An Act respecting Lotteries,"" to which they desire the concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read for the first time.

On motion of the Honorable Sir E. P. Taché, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Crawford, it was

Ordered, That the said Bill be read a second time to-morrow.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill, intituled "An Act respecting the rights of innocent occupants of Land in Upper Canada, "under titles which prove defective," to which they desire the concurrence of this House. The said Bill was read for the first time.

On motion of the Honorable Mr. Prince, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Christie, it was Ordered, That the said Bill be read a second time to-morrow.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill, intituled "An Act to amend the Law of Replevin in Upper Canada," to which they desire the concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read for the first time.

On motion of the Honorable Mr. Allan, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Perry, it was Ordered, That the said Bill be read a second time to-morrow.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill, intituled "An Act respecting the Police Force in Cities and Towns in Canada," to which they desire the concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read for the first time.

On motion of the Honorable Mr. McDonald, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Harmaunus Smith, it was

Ordered, That the said Bill be read a second time to-morrow.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, to return the

Bill, intituled "An Act respecting certain Ordnance Land Reserves in Upper Canada," and to acquaint this House that they have passed the said Bill without any amendment.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill, intituled "An Act concerning the Inspection of Flour and Meal," and to acquaint this House that they have agreed to the amendments made by the Legislative Council to the said Bill, without amendment.

The Honorable the Speaker then declared this House continued until half-past seven of the clock, this evening.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill, intituled "An Act respecting the Judicial Incorporation of Joint Stock Companies for certain "purposes," to which they desire the concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read for the first time.

On motion of the Honorable Mr. Perry, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Murney, it was Ordered, That the said Bill be read a second time to-morrow.

The House was adjourned during pleasure.

After some time the House was resumed.

The Honorable Mr. Vankoughnet informed the House, that it is the intention of His Excellency the Governor General, should the state of public business permit, to Prorogue Parliament on Friday next.

The Honorable Mr. Vankoughnet moved, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Ferrie, That when the House adjourns this day, it do stand adjourned until to-morrow at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, and that on to-morrow, and on every day thereafter during the Session, this House do meet at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, and do continue in Session until one o'clock in the afternoon, unless otherwise adjourned, to meet again at three o'clock; and again, after the usual adjournment at six o'clock, to meet again at half-past seven o'clock, of the same day; and that every Sitting upon each such meeting, shall be considered a distinct Sitting of this House, as though such Sittings had been had on different days.

The question of concurrence being put thereon, the same was resolved in the affirma tive, and

Ordered accordingly.

Then, on motion of the Honorable Mr. Ferrie, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Knowlton, The House adjourned until to-morrow, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon.

The following Petitions were brought up and laid on the Table:

Pursuant to the Order of the Day, the following Petitions were severally read:

Of James Pickard and others; of L. H. Baldick and others; of R. W. Copeland and others; of Michael Crawford and others; of Thomas Haggart and others; and of William W. Walker and others, of the County of Peel; severally praying that the late selection of Malton as the County Town of the said County, may be changed.

Of Henry W. Argues and others, of the County of Durham; praying for the separation of the said County from the County of Northumberland.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, to return the Bill intituled, “An Act to alter and amend the Act incorporating the Mechanics' Institute "of Montreal," and to acquaint this House that they have passed the said Bill, with an amendment, to which they desire the concurrence of the Legislative Council. The said amendment was then read by the Clerk, as follows:

Page 1, line 8.-Leave out from "for" to "the" where it occurs the first time in line 9, and insert "the amendments hereinafter set forth of."

The said amendments being read a second time, and the question of concurrence put thereon, the same was agreed to.

Ordered, That the Clerk do go down to the Legislative Assembly, and acquaint that House that the Legislative Council doth agree to the amendment made to the said Bill, without any amendment.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill intituled, "An Act to remove doubts as to the validity of By-law number three hundred "and nine of the Corporation of the City of Toronto, and of certain Debentures "issued thereunder," to which they desire the concurrence of this House. The said Bill was read for the first time.

On motion of the Honorable Mr. Prince, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Allan, it was Ordered, That the said Bill be read a second time at the next sitting of the House.

A Message was brought from the Legislative Assembly, by their Clerk, with a Bill intituled, "An Act to amend the Act twentieth Victoria, chapter one hundred and fifty"four, in reference to the Eastwood and Berlin Railway Company," to which they desire the concurrence of this House.

The said Bill was read for the first time.

The Order of the Day being read for the second reading of the Bill intituled, "An Act "concerning the Administration of Justice in Lower Canada,"

The Honorable Mr. Vankoughnet moved, seconded by the Honorable Mr. Knowlton, That the said Bill be now read a second time.

After Debate,

The question of concurrence being put thereon, the same was resolved in the affirmative, and

The said Bill was then read a second time accordingly.

Ordered, That the said Bill be committed to a Committee of the Whole House presently.

The House was then, according to Order, adjourned during pleasure, and put into a Committee on the said Bill.

After some time the House was resumed, and

The Honorable Mr. Knowlton, from the said Committee, reported that they had taken the said Bill into consideration, had made some progress therein, and had directed him to ask leave to sit again.

Ordered, That the Committee have leave to sit again at the next sitting of the House.

And the hour of one o'clock having arrived, the Honorable the Speaker then declared this House continued until three o'clock in the afternoon, the House so decreeing.
