ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION of the Albany and Susquehanna Railroad Company made and entered into this the second day of April, in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty-one. The subscribers hereby agree to form a company, pursuant to the act of the Legislature of the State of New York, entitled "An act to authorize the formation of railroad corporations, and to regulate the same," passed April 2d, 1850, to be called "The Albany and Susquehanna Railroad Company," for the purpose of constructing, maintaining and operating a railroad for public use in the conveyance of persons and property from some point on the line of the New York and Erie Railroad, at or near the village of Binghamton in the county of Broome, to the city of Albany, in the State of New York, through the valleys of the Susquehanna, by the way of the Great Bend, Schenevus and Cobleskill, and thence by the most feasible route, and they hereby declare and specify pursuant to the act aforesaid: FIRST, That the name of said company shall be The Albany and Susquehanna Railroad Company. SECOND, That the number of years the said Company shall continue is one hundred and fifty years from the date of these articles of association, agreement and declaration. THIRD, That the places from and to which the said road is to be constructed, maintained and operated are from the line of the New York and Erie Railroad, at or near Binghamton, to the city of Albany, in the State of New York. FOURTH, That the length of said road, as near as may be, will be one hundred and forty miles. FIFTH, The counties in the State of New York through or into which the same is to be made, or intended to be made, are Broome county, Chenango county, Otsego county, Delaware county, Schoharie county, Schenectady county and Albany county, and so far as the same extends on its route along the valleys of the Susquehanna river and the Schenevus and Cobleskill creeks. |
