New York, March 23. Last Tuesday we had here a considerable Shower of Rain, attended with much Thunder and Lightning; one of the Claps whereof struck the House of Mr. Philip Vanhorne, near the Long Bridge, and set the same on Fire; but it was soon discovered and extinguished: The Lightning went thro' the House, broke several of the Sash Windows, and shiver'd a large Looking Glass all to Pieces; besides considerable other Damage: However by the blessing of God, no Persons were hurt.

The rainy Weather continued all that Day, and was followed the next Day by a violent Snow Storm. About a Week before that, we had a pretty smart Snow Storm, attended with a great deal of Thunder, to the surprize of most, as it is no common Thing to have Snow and Thunder both at once; and we hear, the Thunder was so violent at that time near Woodbridge, that a Boy in the Field, was struck down and stunned, but happily without further Damage.-N. Y. Gazette, Revived in the Weekly Post Boy, March 23, 1752.
