Washington Heights, 10th avenue and 158th street; N, Kingsbridge Park, 206th street, near 14th avenue.

There are five deliveries made daily (except Sundays) by carriers, to all sections of the city south of 65th street. Also, six collections made from lamp-post boxes.

Letters deposited in these boxes must have the requisite number of stamps before placing them therein. Depositing money in the boxes does not insure their being prepaid.

Rates of Postage.

The rate of postage on letters, to be forwarded in the mails to any part of the United States, will be three cents per half-ounce, prepaid.

The postage on letters dropped in the office, at the stations, or in the lamp-post boxes, for delivery in the city, will be two cents per half ounce, prepaid.

Transient newspapers, pamphlets, proof-sheets, book manuscripts, sample-cards, photograph-cards, cards, maps, blanks, blank paper, engravings, envelopes, seeds, roots, scions, and printed matter (except circulars and books), will be rated at two cents for every four ounces, or fraction thereof, prepaid.

Double the above rates will be charged for books.

Unsealed circulars, one and not exceeding three in number in one envelope, will be charged two cents; and in that proportion for a greater number, to one address, prepaid.

Canada and the British Provinces, ten cents per half ounce.

Newfoundland, ten cents per half ounce, must be prepaid.

The postage on all letters deposited for delivery in this city, or to be forwarded by mail to any part of the United States (or to any foreign country to which prepayment is required), must be prepaid by postage stamps. Letters deposited without being properly prepaid will be sent immediately to the Dead Letter Office, Washington.

Money Sent without Danger of Loss.

MONEY ORDERS UPON ANY MONEY ORDER OFFICE, For any amount not exceeding $30 on one order, will be issued on deposits at this office on payment of the following fees:

On Orders not exceeding $10..
Over $10 and not exceeding $20.

Over $20 and not exceeding $30..

United States Exchange Offices for Foreign Mails.

New York is an office of exchange for British, French, Prussian, Belgian, Bremen, and Hamburg mails.

Boston is an office of exchange for British, French, Prussian, and Belgian mails.

Philadelphia is an office of exchange for British and French mails. San Francisco is an office of exchange for British mails only.

Portland, Detroit, and Chicago, are offices of exchange for British, Frussian, and French mails.

There are eleven Harbor Masters, who have, for the better accommodation of the public, divided the port of New York into eleven Districts, viz.:

First District-J. M. Thompson, 270 South street. District extends from Pier 42 up East river.

Second District-H. N. Sherwood, 168 South street. District extends from Pier 27 to 41, East river.

Third District-Henry H. Huelat, 83 South street. District extends from Pier 19 to 27, East river..

Fourth District-J. A. Bain, 67 South street. District extends from Pier to 19, East river.

Fifth District-James W. Husted, 26 Coenties slip. District extends from Pier 13 to 19, East river.

Sixth District-J. P. Whitcomb, 40 Front street. District extends from Whitehall to Pier 8, East river.

Seventh District-J. Cashon, 46 West street. District extends from Battery to Pier 9, North river.

Eighth District-N. P. Pond. District extends from Pier 9 to 28, North river.

Ninth District-J. W. Swan. District extends from Pier 28 to 36, North river.

Tenth District-J. Drew, 221 West street. District extends from Pier 36 up North river.

Eleventh District (Brooklyn)-J. E. Watson, Atlantic Dock. District extends from Red Hook Point to extent of port.

In case of the sickness or absence from the city of any of the Harbor Masters, either of them will attend to his district.
