Incorporated for the purpose of encouraging and promoting domestic industry in this State and the United States, in agriculture, commerce, manufactures, and the arts, and any improvements made therein, by bestowing rewards and other benefits on those who shall make any such improvements, or excel in any of the said branches.

The Institute has held thirty-six Annual Fairs.

The Farmer's Club, Polytechnic Association, and Horticultural Association, are branches of the Institute.

Its library contains about 10,000 volumes, and is one of the best scientific libraries in the country.

The requirements for graduation are: Twenty-one years of age, a certificate of study and attendance on two full courses of medical lectures, the last being in this College; a thesis in the handwriting of the candidate, proper testimonials of character, and a satisfactory examination by the Censors in each department of instruction.

Two prizes will be awarded by the faculty for the best dissected preparations.
