TABULAR DIGEST OF RETURNS FURNISHED BY THE OF THE ENDOWED SCHOOLS FOR PRIMARY INSTRUCTION OF BOYS AND GIRLS (“NON-CLASSICAL") IN ENGLAND AND WALES. N.B. The term "Non-classical " as employed here relates to the purpose of the foundation, and is used to denote that the School was not intended by the Founder to give instruction in Grammar. It is also employed in the same sense whenever the Endowed Schools for Primary Instruction are mentioned in the preceding Grammar School Tables. A similar term, however, occurs in Col. 15 of those Tables, in reference to certain Grammar Schools, when it relates to present practice only, and is used to denote that the School, although founded as a Grammar School, has ceased to give instruction in Grammar. |
