Resolved, That all Committee Clerks of this Senate, with the exception of one clerk for the Judiciary Committee, and one clerk for the Committee on Finance, be and the same are discharged from this date, March 14, 1891.

Have had the same under consideration, and respectfully report the same back, and recommend that it be amended so as to read as follows:

Resolved, That the services of all Committee Clerks of the Senate, with the exception of the clerks for the Judiciary Committee, the Committee on Attachés, Contingent Expenses, and Mileage, and the Clerk of the Committee on Finance, be dispensed with after March 21, 1891.

And that as so amended it be adopted.

REPORT OF SPECIAL COMMITTEE.

SENATE CHAMBER, SACRAMENTO, March 20, 1891. MR. PRESIDENT: Your committee, appointed on Thursday, March 19, 1891, to examine the books of the State Librarian, do most respectfully submit the following report: We have examined the books, and find them to be kept in good condition. The following is a list of names of the employés, the time employed, the amount of salary paid, and from which fund the same was paid out:

That none of the said employés are paid any salary in excess of the amount authorized by law to be so paid.

There are at present employed in the State Library six employés, one of whom is only temporarily employed. The last three names on the above list were only employed five months, for the purpose of making an inventory of the books in the Library.

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be and he is hereby ordered to compile a complete and final history of Senate Bills, Senate Constitutional Amendments, and Senate Concurrent and Joint Resolutions of the twenty-ninth session of the Legislature, and that he be required to mail to each Assemblyman and Senator two copies of said final history; and further

Resolved, That the Controller be authorized and directed to draw his warrant in favor of the Secretary of the Senate, for the sum of three hundred dollars, payable out of the Contingent Fund of the Senate, such sum to include payment for compilation, mailing, and postage.
