The Geography of the New Testament, as already noticed, extends little beyond the countries along the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. The triumphs of Christ's kingdom, however, have now stretched far beyond that boundary; and prophecy assures us that his kingdom shall still increase, and instead of embracing the map of Palestine only, it shall extend until it include the map of the world. Yes; inspiration has said, and by his own existence the Lord has sworn, "All the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord," Num. xiv. 21. "The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea, Isa. x. 9; Hab. ii. 14. His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun; and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed," Ps. lxxii. 17. What is thus the word of promise, ought surely to the Christian to be the subject of prayer and praise; and to dispose him to say with David, when he "testified before hand" of the work of Christ and the glory that should follow: "Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen, and Amen,” Ps. lxxii.
