ETER ALFRED CROSSBY, manager of the Dominion Type Foundry, Montreal, Que., was born February 23rd, 1842, in that city. His parents were William Ewbank Crossby and Margaret (Fraser) Crossby. Mr. Crossby was educated at the French school of Beauharnois, and afterwards received an English education in Montreal, and subsequently learned the trade of a printer. He formerly belonged to the Roman Catholic Church, but in 1856, became a member of the Church of England. He is now an earnest Protestant, and has been warden of Trinity Church, Montreal, and is one

of its liberal supporters. In politics, he is a Conservative. he is a Conservative. He is past master of Zetland Lodge, No. 12, A.F. and A.M.; past deputy grand master and grand representative of the Grand Lodge of the Indian territory; past noble grand of Mizpah Lodge, I.O.O.F. and past deputy grand master of the Grand Lodge of Quebec, I.O.O.F. He is vice-president of the International Typographical Union, and secretarytreasurer of the Lorne Fish and Game Club. Club. On June 20th, 1883, he was married to Winnie Carruthers, who died January 7th, 1888. Mr. Crossby has one daughter.

R. O. FORTIN, veterinary surgeon, Montreal, Quebec, was born at St. Urbain Premier, county of Chateauguay, Quebec, May 21st, 1862. His parents are Odilon and Eulalie (Goyette) Fortin, of St. Constant, county of Laprairie. When six years of age, he came to Montreal with his parents, who have resided there ever since. He was educated at a commercial academy, and subsequently at the Jacques-Cartier Normal School, from which he took his diploma in 1882. He then studied pharmacy, after which he entered the Montreal Veterinary College, graduating with first

prize in pathology in 1885. He immediately began to practice in Montreal, where he has been signally successful. In 1889, he was appointed by the Government of Quebec, an examiner for the exhibitions for the county of Laprairie and the division of Montarville. Dr. Fortin was one of the first professors of the "Ecole Vétérinaire Française," in connection with Laval University, occupying the chair of Descriptive Anatomy and Obstatrica. He is a member of the Montreal Veterinary Association, and of other societies. religion, he is a Roman Catholic, and in politics a Liberal.

UILLAUME NARCISSE DUCHARME, Montreal, Que., was born in Chateauguay, Quebec, January 3rd, 1851. He obtained his education at the common schools, the Montreal College, and the St. Henry English School. He spent about sixteen years in mercantile business, and in 1878, was appointed secretary-treasurer of the School Commissioners of Ste. Cunégonde. In 1882, he became its postmaster, and in 1884, its clerk and treasurer. He is a Justice of the Peace, manager of La Banque Jacques-Cartier branch; vice-president of the Standard Light and Power Co., and is a director,

both in the Auer Light Co., and the Citizens' Light and Power Co. He declined the nomination for the county of Hochelaga in 1892, to contest the seat in the interests of the Conservative party, made vacant by the promotion of Hon. Alphonse Desjardins, to the Senate. His name is mentioned in connection with the next election, as he is considered the strongest man in the division. Mr. Ducharme is the owner of considerable property. He was married, July 6th, 1880, to Miss Maria Delia, daughter of Leon Rivet, engineer, Montreal. Of this marriage there are five children living.

OUIS H. BOISSEAU, of the firm of Boisseau Bros., dry goods merchants, No. 237 St. Lawrence Street, Montreal, Que., was born September 28th, 1854, at St. Césaire, county of Rouville, P.Q. His father was Joseph Boisseau, a miller of St. Césaire, who died when our subject was thirteen years of age, and his mother was Marceline Mayotte. The first of the Boisseau family was Pierre Boisseau, born at Verchères, P.Q., in 1646, and was the seigneur de Bellevue. Mr. Boisseau received his education at St. Césaire College, and then engaged as clerk in a dry goods store at Batavia,

N.Y. He came to Montreal in 1874, and started business for himself on St. Lawrence street, where he is now the principal dry goods merchant. He is one of the founders of the French "Chambre de Commerce," was an executive officer of the St. Jean-Baptiste Society, and was an alderman for the St. Louis Ward of Montreal, from 1887 to 1893. In 1890, he was chosen by the Liberal party to represent St. Louis county in Parliament, but refused.

In religion he is a Roman Catho

lic. He was married January 8th, 1888, to Miss Dufort. His family consists of one son and two daughters.

OHN EARLE JENNER, M.D., C.M., L.R.C.P., Kingsville, Ont., was born in Kent county, Ont., March 18th, 1857, and is a lineal descendent of the illustrious Dr. Edward Jenner, who discovered vaccination. His parents, John and Hannah (Russell) Jenner, were born in Kent county, England. He received his education at the public school and the High School, Chatham, where he qualified for a teacher. After teaching four years, he entered the office of doctors Holmes & McKeough, Chatham. At the first year's examination, he took first-class honors, securing the college scholarship of fifty dollars. At the primary examination the following year, he divided the scholarship with a fellow student, and at the final examination, carried off the college gold medal. He determined to take a post graduate course in London, Eng., where he went in 1883. He secured a clinical clerkship at the London Hospital, under Sir Andrew Clarke and Dr. Samuel Fenwick, and the same year passed with honors the examination for the triple qualification of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Eng. In 1884, he returned to Canada, where he secured situations as a locumtenens for nearly a year. He then accepted an appointment on the resident staff of the Toronto General Hospital, but resigned it in order to take charge of Dr. J. M. Platt's (M.P.) practice in Picton, which resulted in a partnership which lasted

over three years. While in Picton, he was Medical Health Officer for the town. After a short stay at Peterboro, he went to Kingsville, and entered into partnership with Dr. King, after which Dr. Jenner established his present practice. In politics he is a Liberal, and vice-president of the Reform Association, Kingsville. He is an official member of the Methodist Church, a member of the trustee board, and belongs to the A.O.U.W. and I.O. F. On June 1st, 1887, he married. Ella Eugenia Taylor, daughter of the late Thos. Hume Taylor, of Chatham. They have one child.
