REPORT OF THE SECTION

ON

MEDICAL JURISPRUDENCE, HYGIENE, AND PHYSIOLOGY.

MAY 3, 1870.

THE Section met at 3 o'clock P. M.

On motion of Dr. L. J. DEAL, of Pennsylvania, Dr. FRANK H. GETCHEL, of Pennsylvania, was appointed Chairman, and Dr. BENJ. BLACHFORD, of Virginia, appointed Secretary.

Dr. JOSEPH G. RICHARDSON, microscopist to the Pennsylvania Hospital, read an able and interesting essay upon the Cellular Structure of the Red Blood Corpuscles.

After the reading of Dr. RICHARDSON's essay, on motion of Dr. DEAL, it was referred back to the Association with the recommendation that it be referred to the Committee of Publication with the accompanying drawings of specimens exhibited before the Association, which were accurate copies.

On motion, Dr. RICHARDSON was appointed a committee to make further microscopical researches on the Structure of the White Blood Corpuscles, and to report to the next meeting of the Association.

On motion, Dr. HENRY R. NOEL, of Maryland, was requested to prepare a paper upon such physiological subject as he may select, to be read before the next meeting of the American Medical Association.

On motion, the Secretary of the Section was directed to ask the Permanent Secretary of the Association for other papers prepared by any members, to be read before the Physiological Section.

On motion, the Section adjourned to meet to-morrow, Wednesday, May 4th, at 3 o'clock P. M.

The Section met in pursuance of adjournment. Dr. GETCHEL, of Pennsylvania, in the chair, and Dr. BLACHFORD, of Virginia, Secretary.

Dr. J. H. WATTERS, of Missouri, read an able paper on the Doctrine of Force, Physical and Vital, which was, on motion, referred back to the Association, with the request that it be referred to the Committee of Publication.

There being no other paper, on motion, the Section adjourned.
