CHIEF OF SINNERS.

LITTLE BOOKS BY JOHN BUNYAN.

This Series of "Little Books" will comprise the principal Practical, Doctrinal, and Experimental Treatises of the Author and some of his Allegorical Writings. Each volume will be complete in itself, and will contain one Treatise or more, according to length. And while the separate volumes will be found convenient for private use, and well adapted for presentation, the complete Series will form a very neat and elegant "Bunyan Library."

GRACE ABOUNDING TO THE CHIEF OF SINNERS;

or, A brief and faithful relation of the exceeding mercy of

God in Christ to his poor servant John Bunyan; namely in

taking him out of the dunghill, and converting him to the

faith of his blessed Son, Jesus Christ.

Here is also particularly showed, what sight of, and what

trouble he had for sin; and also what various temptations he

met with; and how God hath carried him through them.

Corrected and much enlarged by the author, for the benefit

of the tempted and dejected Christian.

To which is added, Bunyan's relation of his imprisonment;

a discourse between his wife and the judges, touching his de-
liverance at the assizes; his reflections on his imprisonment;
the continuation of his life, and manner of his death and
burial; with his true character, by one of his personal friends;
and his dying sayings.

Dedication to his Church,

I. BUNYAN'S ACCOUNT OF HIMSELF PREVIOUS TO HIS CONVER-

SION-Mean rank; taught to read and write, which he soon

forgot; taken captive by the devil at his will; very profane;

visited with fearful dreams and sharp convictions; narrow

escapes from death; marries the daughter of a pious man; re-

forms, and attends church.-Sunday sports; conviction darts

into his soul while playing at cat; gives way to despair, and

plunges into sin; reproved by a wicked woman; led, by the

conversation of a poor professor, to examine his Bible; becomes

outwardly reformed; leaves off bell-ringing and dancing; still

ignorant of Jesus,
