Ordered, That a joint special committee be appointed to consist of one member from this board, with such as the council may join, who shall cause a thorough and systematic revision of the ordinances to be made, and present the same to the city council for action.

And when the same shall be finally determined upon by the city council, the said committee is hereby authorized to cause said ordinances to be duly indexed, printed, and bound, and to consist of such number of copies as said committee shall determine," etc.

Adopted in board of aldermen, February 3d, 1879, and concurred in by common council.

Whereupon, Joseph McCreery of the board of aldermen, and Thomas S. Borden and Frank McGraw of the common council, were appointed said committee.

The present revision is enriched by foot notes in regard to the changes of time in holding city elections, etc., and by an Appendix composed largely of statistical information in relation to subjects of interest to the city; with supplementary matter which will be found valuable for reference, &c.

The "Rules and Orders" of the different departments of the city government are omitted from this volume, because of their being subject to change annually by each incoming administration.
