AN ACT to authorise the Minister of Lands A.D. 1896. to lease certain Land for certain purposes.

WHEREAS it is expedient to authorise the Minister of Lands to PREAMBLE.

lease the Land hereinafter mentioned in the manner and for the purpose hereinafter provided:

Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

from time to time to grant to the said Company any casement over any such land as aforesaid for such period and on such terms and conditions as the Minister may think fit.

Provided always, that the rent payable at any time for the land comprised in any lease granted under the authority of this Act shall be payable in advance on the First day of July in every year, and shall not be less than the sum which would be payable as rent for the same land if it were then held under a lease granted under the pro- . visions of "The Mining Act, 1893"; and in every case in which a lease shall be granted under the authority of this Act after the first day of July in any year the rent for the land comprised in such lease shall be paid in advance for the period ending on the Thirtieth day of June following the date of the lease. Provided further, that all the provisions of "The Mount Lyell and Strahan Railway Act" as to the taking over and acquiring the said railway shall apply to any portions of the lands to be leased under this Act which at the time of the said purchase may be used for or may be necessary to be used for the working of the said railway.

2 Subject to the provisions of this Act, all the provisions of "The Mining Act, 1893," and of all Amendments thereof, so far as the same are applicable and are not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, shall apply to all leases granted under the authority of this Act.

Provided always, that the provisions of "The Mining Act, 1893," or of any Amendment thereof, as to amalgamation of claims held under lease, shall not apply to any leases granted to the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company, Limited, under the authority of this Act, but the whole of the land included in any lease or leases to be granted under the authority of this Act shall be considered as amalgamated into and forming one claim.

3 This Act may be cited for all purposes as "The Mount Lyell Leases Act, 1896."

AN ACT to authorise a Loan of Five A.D. 1896. thousand Pounds to the Marine Board of Mersey, in accordance with the provisions of "The Local Public Works Loans Act, 1890." [23 October, 1896.]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and

with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

AN ACT to provide for an Increase in the A.D. 1896. amount of Pension payable to Lawrence [23 October, 1896.]

BE it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by

and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1 Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, it shall be lawful for Appropriation of the Treasurer to pay, by way of pension, in the year One thousand eight hundred and ninety-six and every succeeding year, to Lawrence McInerney, late Attendant and Messenger, Hospital for Insane, New Norfolk, the sum of Eleven Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Two Pence; and such sum shall be in addition to and not in diminution of any Superannuation Allowance granted in accordance with the provisions of The Superannuation Act to the said Lawrence M'Inerney.
