An ACT for dividing the Town of Willsborough, in the County of

I.

BE

Essex.

Paffed February 20th, 1802.

E it enacted by the People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, That from and after the firft 1 Monday of April next, all that part of the town of Willsborough in the county of Effex, within the following bounds, to wit: Beginning at a tree called the twelve mile tree, being the foutheast corner of the town of Jay; thence northerly on the heighth of land until it strikes the fouth line of Clinton county; thence easterly on the fouth line of faid county as far as the county of Effex extends; thence foutherly on the east line of faid county until it comes oppofite the north fhore of the bay of Peru; thence to the north fhore; thence on the fhore to Howard's brook, and thence wefterly to the place of beginning, be and hereby is erected into a feparate town by the name of Chesterfield, and the first town meeting fhall be held at the dwelling houfe of Ifaac Wright, innkeeper in faid town.

II. And be it further enacted, That all the remaining part of 2 the town of Willsborough, fhall be and remain a separate town by the name of Willsborough, and the first town meeting shall be held at the dwelling houfe of Jonathan Lynde, in faid town.

III. And be it further enacted, That as foon as may be after the firft Tuesday of April next, the overfeers of the poor and the fupervisors of the faid towns fhall, after due notice being given for that purpose by the supervisors of the faid towns, meet together and apportion the money and poor belonging to the faid town of Willsborough, previous to the divifion thereof, agreeable to the last state tax lift; and that each of the faid towns shall for ever thereafter refpectively fupport their own poor.

An ACT to erect a Town in the County of Saratoga, by the Name of

E it enacted by the People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, That all that part of the town

of Stillwater, in the county of Saratoga, comprehended within the following bounds, to wit: Beginning on the fouth bounds of the town of Stillwater at a place where a fmall creek known by the name of Dwafs-kill empties into Anthony's kill; thence northerly on a ftraight line to a place where the most easterly small creek empties into the fouth end of the Saratoga-lake; thence northwesterly to the fouth bounds of the town of Saratoga; thence wefterly along the fouth bounds of the faid town of Saratoga to the easterly bounds of the town of Milton; thence fouth along the easterly bounds of the faid town of Milton to the northeast bounds of the town of Ballftown; thence foutherly on the eaft bounds of the town of Ballftown to the foutheast bounds thereof; thence easterly on the fouth bounds of the town of Stillwater, to the place of beginning, fhall be and hereby is erected into a feparate town by the name of Malta; and that the firft town meeting in the faid town of Malta, fhall be held at the dwelling house 2 of Michael Dunning junior, in faid town; and that all the remaining part of the town of Stillwater, fhall be and remain a feparate town by the name of Stillwater, and the next town meeting in the faid town fhall be held at the place to which the fame now ftands adjourned.

II. And be it further enacted, That as foon as may be after the firft Tuesday of April next, the fupervisors and overfeers of the poor of the faid towns of Stillwater and Malta, fhall by notice for that purpofe by them given, meet together and divide the money and poor belonging to the faid town of Stillwater previous to the paffing of this act, among the faid towns of Stillwater and Malta, agreeably to the last state tax lift; and that each of the said towns fhall for ever thereafter refpectively maintain its own poor.

Barren-Ifland in Kings county annexed to the town of Flatlands.

An ACT relative to Barren-Island in Kings County.

Paffed March 8th, 1802.

E it enacted by the People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, That the Ifland commonly called Barren-Ifland, in Kings county, lying on the fouth fide of the town of Flatlands, bounded eafterly by the inlet which feparates it from Rockaway beach, foutherly by the Atlantic ocean, westerly by the inlet that feparates it from Plumb beach, and northerly by a narrow creek that feparates it from the marsh lying fouth of the faid town of Flatlands, fhall be, and the fame is hereby annexed to the aforefaid town of Flatlands.

An ACT to divide the Town of Otsego, in the County of Otsego.

E it enacted by the People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, That from and after the firft Tuef- 1 day in February next, all that part of the town of Otfego, in the county of Otfego, being part of Hartwick's patent, bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at the northeast corner of a lot diftinguish-, ed on a map of faid patent made by William Ellifon, by lot number forty-eight, on the weft bank of the Sufquehannah-river, and running from thence, on the north line of faid lot number fortyeight and lot number forty, to the northeast corner of lot number thirty-two; from thence north two degrees weft, to the north bounds of faid patent; from thence along the north bounds of faid patent, to the northweft corner thereof; from thence along the weft bounds of faid patent, to the fouthweft corner thereof; from thence along the fouth bounds thereof, to the Sufquehannah-river; thence up the faid river to the place of beginning, fhall be and hereby is erected into a separate town, by the name of Hartwick ; and that the first town meeting be held at the house of Jofeph Lippett, in faid town; that all the remaining part of the town of Ot- 2 fego, fhall be and continue a town by the name of Otfego; and that the first town meeting be held at the court houfe, in the village of Cooperstown, in faid town.

II. And be it further enacted, That as foon as may may be after the firft Tuesday in May, one thoufand eight hundred and three, the fupervisors and overfeers of the poor of the towns aforefaid, fhall by notice to be given for that purpose by the fupervisors thereof, meet together and apportion the poor maintained by the faid, town of Otfego, and the poor money belonging to the fame, previous to the divifion thereof, according to the last state tax lift ; and that each of the faid towns fhall thereafter refpectively maintain their own poor.

An ACT to divide the Town of Ovid, in the County of Cayuga.

E it enacted by the People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, That from and after the laft day in

February next, all that part of the town of Ovid in the county of Cayuga, known by the name of Hector, and so distinguished on the map of the furveyor-general of this ftate on record in the fecretary's office, fhall be and hereby is erected into a feparate town by the name of Hector, and the first town meeting in the said town of Hector fhall be held at the dwelling houfe of Grover Smith, in 2 faid town; and that all the remaining part of the faid town of Ovid, fhall be and remain a separate town by the name of Ovid, and the next annual town meeting in the faid town of Ovid shall be held at the ufual place of holding town meetings.

II. And be it further enacted, That as foon as may be, after the first Tuesday in March, in the year one thoufand eight hundred and three, the fupervisors and overfeers of the poor of the faid towns of Ovid and Hector, on notice being first given by faid fupervisors for that purpofe, fhall meet together, and divide the money and the poor belonging to the faid town of Ovid, previous to the divifion thereof, agreeable to the last state tax lift; and that each of the faid towns fhall for ever thereafter refpectively support their

own poor.

An ACT to divide the Town of Aurelius, in the County of Cayuga. Paffed March 30th, 1802. I. DE it enacted by the People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, That from and after the last day of February next, all that part of the town of Aurelius, lying north of the Seneca-river, fhall be, and is hereby erected into a feparate town by the name of Cato; and the first town meeting fhall be held at the houfe of Ifrael Wolverton, in faid town; that all that part of the town of Aurelius, lying east of a line drawn from where the fouth bounds of the town interfected the waters of the Owascolake; thence following the waters of faid lake until they interfect the fouth bounds of lot number forty-feven in the township of Aurelius; thence eaft to the eaft bounds of the county of Cayuga, fhall be, and is hereby erected into a feparate town by the name of Owafco; and the first town meeting fhall be held at the house 3 of Mofes Co.twright fenior, in faid town; that all that part of the town of Aurelius, lying weft of the town of Brutus, herein after named, fouth and east of the Seneca-river, and north of the north bounds of lots number twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four and twenty-five in the late Cayuga reservation, and north of the north bounds of lots number twenty-four, twenty-five and

twenty-fix in the township of Aurelius, fhall be, and is hereby erected into a feparate town, by the name of Jefferfon; and the first town meeting fhall be held at the houfe of Ezekiel Crane, in faid town; that all that part of the town of Aurelius, lying north of the faid town of Owafco, weft of the county of Onondaga, fouth of the Seneca-river, and east of lots number fifty, fixty-three, seventy-four, eighty-five and ninety-five in the township of Brutus, and eaft of lots number five, fixteen, twenty-fix, thirty-eight and fortyfeven in the townfhip of Aurelius, fhall be, and is hereby erected into a feparate town, by the name of Brutus ; and the firft town meeting fhall be held at the houfe of Thomas Wright, in faid town; and that all the refidue of the town of Aurelius, fhall be and 5 remain a feparate town, by the name of Aurelius; and the first town meeting shall be held at the houfe of Henry Moore, in faid

town.

II. And be it further enacted, That as foon as may be after the 6* firft Tuesday of March next, the fupervifors and overfeers of the poor of the aforefaid towns, on notice being previously given by faid fupervisors for that purpose, fhall meet and divide the poor money belonging to the faid town of Aurelius, previous to the divifion thereof, agreeable to the last state tax lift, and that each of the faid towns fhall for ever thereafter refpectively fupport their own poor.

E it enacted by the People of the State of New-York, represented in Senate and Assembly, That from and after the last day of 1 February next, all that part of the town of Leyden, beginning at the northwesterly corner of the town of Champion; thence north forty-five degrees eaft, to the fouthwefterly bounds of the county of St. Lawrence; thence northwesterly along the fame to the river St. Lawrence; thence fouthwesterly up faid river and lake Ontario, to the mouth or outlet of Black-river; thence easterly up faid Black-river, to the place of beginning, fhall be erected into a town by the name of Brownville; and that the first town meeting be held at the houfe of Jacob Brown in faid town; That 2 all that part of the town of Mexico, known by townships number feven and eight, bounded northeasterly by the town of Watertown,
