W. E. M. "THE INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL ANNUAL The eighth yearly issue of this work is at hand. The new in medicine is always appreciated by the progressive physician; and a book devoted to new remedies, and to the most recent advances in diagnosis and treatment, especially one sustained by the authorship of such men as appear upon the list of contributors to the Medical Annual, needs no recommendation from us. The articles on Thermo and Electro-Therapeutics, with numerous illustrations of methods and appliances, will be of much interest. An extensive article on Sanitation has added much to the scope of the work, and will be highly appreciated by all. A generous in crease in size and material has added much to W. E. M. 6. Intra-uterine applications and the use of tents should be relegated to the background. As a result of their use, many women have been made invalids for life; even the passage of a sound has often carried infection before it to These three books, well written, amply spread into the tubes, causing salpingitis and illustrated and neatly issued, contain a large frequently pelvic peritonitis. Gynecological Notes. Lateral versions of the uterus are always produced by adhesions, from previous peritoneal inflammation, binding down the uterus and drawing it to one side. They are associated with tubal disease in almost all cases. Never use a vaginal or cervical tampon to arrest uterine hemorrhage. It violates one of the most important laws of surgery-drainage. Hemorrhage can almost always be controlled by the use of hot water or the curette, but if the tampon be used, it should be removed in three or four hours. * considering it a grave procedure and after having taken extreme antiseptic precautions. Lately when in the office of a general practitioner we counted no less than thirteen different shapes and sizes of this instrument. It is not fashionable to speak of pelvic cellulitis. It is now known that this is one of the rarest diseases and that what is usually spoken of is in reality salpingitis. BY Means of this complete Anatomical Cabinet, actual dissections, revealing clearly and perfectly the different parts of the body, can be made at pleasure, without the inconvenience and unpleasant features attaching to the dissection of a real subject. It is impossible to describe the highly realistic effects produced by these manikins. When not in use, the " Aid" is a neat portfolio, 15x22 inches in size. When open for use, it forms a perfect easel, bringing it before the examiner in the best position for the most convenient reference and study. A special feature of this work is its manikins illustrating the structure and relation of the parts and organs of the male and female reproductive systems. These afford the physician the means, not only for personal research and study, but for such instructive use in practice as the peculiarly confidential relation between physician and patient demands and warrants. The combination of the various sections of these private parts is so adapted that the location and nature of any disorder, peculiar to these organs, can be clearly shown without the least breach of modesty.
