GLASS SELLERS' COMPANY. No action of the Board is at present necessary in this case.-J. S. TO THE CHARITY COMMISSIONERS FOR In pursuance of an Order of the Board on the 10th HAYES' CHARITY. James Hayes, by will dated in 1821, bequeathed to the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers the sum of 2007., the interest to be distributed amongst the poor of the said Company, at the discretion of the Master and Wardens. The legacy was received 17th April 1821, and invested, with an addition from the Company's funds, in the purchase of 3001. stock. Since this date other members of the Company have by voluntary donations raised the total amount of stock to 8001. Os 7d. New Three pounds per cents, which now stands in the corporate name of the Company. The dividends are regularly distributed in quarterly payments to as many poor aged widows or daughters of members of the Company as the balance in hand will warrant, if such number are in need, which is not always the case, the guild being very small; at present there are six recipients. The sum of 15s. a quarter is given to each, and double that sum the Christmas quarter. No deauctions of any kind are made from the dividends; the Company from their general funds defray all expenses. This is the only Charity under the management of the Glass Sellers' Company. STATEMENT of the ACCOUNTS of the CHARITY called THE GLASS SELLERS' COMPANY, in the City of London, in the County of Middlesex, of which the following persons are the Trustees, viz., The Master, Wardens, Assistants, and Commonalty of the Glass Sellers' Company, for the Year ending on the 23rd day of December 1880. 1.-GROSS INCOME arising or due from the ENDOWMENTS for the Year ending on the 23rd day of December 1880. The style of the Company is, "The Master, Wardens, "and Commonalty of the Art or Mystery of Glaziers of "the City of London." The Company consists of one Master, two Wardens, and 18 Assistants, who form the Court, and 25 liverymen. There are 52 freemen not liverymen named in the book kept by the clerk, but some of them may not be living. WALL'S GIFT. Abraham Wall, by his will of the 12th September 1638, gave to the Company 40s. a year out of premises in Ironmonger Lane, to be distributed to four aged poor women of the Company. The house on which this is charged was situated in Ironmonger's Lane, and now forms part of the Mercers' Hall. The Mercers' Company pay 36s. a year. The Company have five widows of freemen pensioners, each receiving 61. per annum, by quarterly payments of 30s., and two freemen of the Company receiving the like amount. The amount thus disposed of is altogether 421. per annum, and the whole rents of the Company in respect of this Charity amounts only to 281. 8s. 2d. a year. TAYNTON'S GIFT. Robert Taynton, by will of the 24th April 1679, gave to the Company a rentcharge of 51. out of a messuage near St. Margaret's Hill, Southwark, towards the relief of poor widows or aecayed freemen of the Company. The house is No. 334, St. Margaret's Hill, Southwark, and the rentcharge is paid by Mr. Cleggett, the tenant, including 12s. 5d. for taxes, leaving a net rental of 41. 7s. 7d. This is distributed as part of the pensions mentioned under Wall's Gift. OLIVER'S GIFT. John Oliver, by his will of the 19th March 1699, gave his house in Queen Street to his grandson on condition that he should pay 31. yearly to the Company for three poor widows. The rentcharge is received in full from Mr. Walter W. Brown, as the owner of the house charged. This is also distributed as part of the pensions, mentioned above. (See Wall's Gift.) VOLLETT AND KNIGHT'S GIFT. David Vollett, by will of the 6th March 1724, gave some ground and two houses in St. Leonard, Shoreditch, to his daughter Elizabeth Knight, charged with 37. a year to the Company for their poor, and, Elizabeth Knight, by her will of the 28th January 1729, gave the property above mentioned to the Company to distribute the rents thereof on St. Matthew's Day to poor freemen or their widows. The property consists of four houses let to Thomas George Smith the younger (two in Crown Court, and two in the court at the back, in the parish of St. Leonard, Shoreditch), demised under the following description:All that piece of ground on the east side of the Kirton Road, St. Leonard, Shoreditch, containing from east to west on the north side 30 feet 10 inches, and on the south 30 feet 6 inches, and on the west side 448 feet 5 inches, and on the east side 44 feet 7 inches, together with the four messuages or tenements erected thereon, two thereof fronting south on Crown Court, and the other two fronting north on Wood's buildings. To hold for 21 years from Midsummer 1862, at 207. a year. This rent is distributed with the pensions mentioned in Wall's Gift. All which I submit to the Board, 12th January 1866. THOS. HARE.
